A new grow - 2 x Vanilla Kush from Barney's Farm. I live close to the Amnesia coffeeshop and this strain is a favourite of my girlfriend's, so i'm interested to see how some home frown will compare. Secret Jardin DS60: 60x60cm = 0.36m2 200W DIY LED: 4 x CREE CXB 3590 @ 1400mA (Max) 4L fabric pots with Plagron Batmix substrate I germinated in jiffy pots for the first time which worked a treat. They were planted on 7th March. One of the seeds sprouted after 2 days (VK1) and the other (VK2) after 4 days. They were immediately transplanted and put in the tent under 24/0, with the light dimmed. I sprayed Rhizotonic around the jiffy pot whilst transplanting and have been spraying around the roots when dry.

VK2 may have taken longer to sprout than VK1 but she has fast overtaken and is the healthier plant by now. I have just been watering slightly around the roots when dry, and adding a tiny bit of Rhizotonic. The humidity has been a bit low because the extractor fan is too strong for the tent. I think I need a fan speed controller but i'm not sure where to buy one or what i'm looking for.

VK2 is on fire and very thirsty! VK1 is neither of those things. I'm unsure why since they seem to be in the exact same conditions? Anyway, VK2 is doing well and has no signs of slowing down so i'm happy.

They are getting proper watering now and being fed with Bio Grow. I still spray the leaves every now and then with water that has a little bit of Rhizotonic in there. Also helps to increase the humidity temporarily. Another good week for VK2 and you can tell i'm excited from a picture almost every day. VK1 is still struggling, if anybody can speculate why then please let me know. I will keep her around while there is space in the tent and see how she goes.

Another strong week for VK2, I trimmed a few leaves off and will probably take a couple of fan leaves soon as well. I'm thinking to veg for a couple more weeks and then switch to flower. I don't want to waste any space in the tent, and with VK1 doing poorly it may make sense to veg VK2 a little longer. Pictures on 09/04/2020 are taken later in the day than the rest of the pictures. You can see how the leaves droop down every evening at about this time.

Pictures on 09/04/2020 are taken later in the day than the rest of the pictures. The leaves droop down every evening at about this time. Is this normal, or is it a sign of light stress? Could they be asking for more darkness, less intense light or should I continue the same?

Hello there. Same thing with my Northern lights. Like clockwork they would start to droop out at hour 19 on a 20/4 cycle. Mine was due to relentless light/heat stress from my lamp and I would presume that's what we're looking at here, as well. I wouldn't change the time as 18/6 is a good cycle. I would recommend moving your lamp up 1-2 inches a day, until you notice these symptoms tapper off. They're just a tad stressed out after a long day. I also see your RH is kicking around 40% and Heat in the day is hovering around 27 degrees. Not bad numbers, but I would suggest balancing out your humidity to heat ratio a bit. Try moving your RH up to 50%+ RH and drop your temperatures by 1-3 degrees, for day time temps. This should also alleviate the stress you're seeing. Need any tips on creating humidity or mitigating heat and/or humidity, drop me a line in PM👌 *I always ask that you wait for another opinion from another site member to verify my response!* Cheers and good luck this week👍

At the beginning of the week I tied down the top of VK2 in order to expose the lower branches to more light and encourage some growth. I also removed most of the big fan leaves. It seemed to work because I there are a few lower branches poking through! The light has also been raised by a couple of inches in response to @Jinks101's answer to a grow question I posted. It seems to have worked and the leaves now wilt less, so I will probably raise it again. I think the picture from 16/04/2020 may be a sign of light stress too, since it was only on the higher leaves. Other than this, it's been the same watering when dry and maintaining an 18-6 light schedule. I agree that my humidity and temperature control has to improve, so i'm ordering a new fancy PWM fan that I can turn down. This one is a bit too powerful for the small tent.

A good week for both VK! The short one is catching up a bit and the big one is still bushy and looks healthy and all green. Moving the light away from the plant has helped. They still look good but have stopped wilting.

This should be the final week of veg. I will take a cutting from VK2 in the next few days and then switch this tent into flower. VK1 has finally had a haircut and some LST to get some more light to those lower branches. It's still a few weeks behind the other plants. Nutrients and watering have stayed the same otherwise.

First week of flower for the VK and things are looking lovely! Switch the 12/12 on 5th May and adjusted nutrients in line with that. Interested to see how VK1 flowers given how she looks so far 😁

Week 2 of flower, some great growth and plenty of pistils poking out now! I am wondering when is the best time to defoliate since the VK2 is quite dense and bushy and I want big colas all around wherever I can. Maybe wait another 1-2 weeks for this?

VK2 is looking great still! and VK1 is continuing the story so far by looking weird. Did some defoliation to expose some more lower bud sites to the light, and i've made the lights a bit brighter now they are big and strong and can handle it. Everything looking ok to me at the minute!

Good week of flowering. VK2 seems to be going really well and i'm expecting some fat colas there. VK1 is looking less fat, but it's expected by this point.

VK2 is looking great and still no deficiencies. I have been defoliating when I see large fan leaves blocking light getting to any buds. Nutrients have gone up a bit again.

Flowers looking fatter this week, i'm really happy with how this grow is going. I noticed that the humidity has risen so I've ordered a dehumidifier on next day delivery because it's too late to fuck up this grow 😁 VK1 flowers look almost fluffy - not sure what that is or what is causing it.
