This is my 1st ever successful budget stealth grow. Suggestions appreciated . The lights were assembled with help of a friend having 2 cobs Cree CXB3590 both running at a total of 145 watts.
Tried growing auto-flowers before and then thought to give photo-period strains a try. The strain here is sunset sherbert from oaseeds.com
week 2 and this plant seems to grow fast and thick.
it was transplanted to a bigger 18 liter air-pot on day 9.
topped on 12th day to create a more bushy plant with 4 main stems. next time shall go for 2 main stems to achieve mainlining. this 1st grow taught me alot.
into week 3 and am impressed by the breeder oaseeds.
had an interruption this week and could not switch on the lights for 2 days in-between on days 17 and 18 and as a result one can see some yellow tint on leaves on day 19. the plant was under 48 hours darkness. it did develop fast but with yellow tint cause of lack of photosynthesis in absence of light and availability of nutrients.
the inter-nodes are growing fast and bushy.
week 4 and the plant is growing bushy and thick and healthy. no deficiencies seen till date. also did not see any transplant shock. watering alternate days till now with a maximum of 500 tds.
LST done on day 24 and also defoliated the fan leaves.
week 5 and the main stem is thick. removed all unnecessary growth in order to achieve a flat canopy. this was my 1st try at LST so suggestions strongly appreciated.
also no deficiencies seen till date. plant is responding great to LST and topping.
still watering every alternate days.
week 6 and the plant is growing bushy and dark green. so flushed it in start of week with pure ro water having tds 4 and phed at 6.2.
also all the fan leaves were removed on day 42. the plant shows excellent response towards LST.
watering every alternate days.
week 7 ; this whole week was a flush by pure ro water having tds 5 and phed at 5.7.
a strong feed was given on day 49 having 960 tds and ph 6.0.
the white threads seen in pictures were my personal idea to create a bottom supporting screen to help out stretch the inter-nodes that you would notice in following weeks.
week 8 ;
as week 7 was mainly flush ; growth was less. as a result more feeding was given in week 8 intermediately having tds 900 and ph 6.2.
as a result consistent growth was seen.
watering same as before ; alternate days.
week 9;
every alternate day feeding was given with 1.5 liter ro water and having average tds of 550 and phed at 6.2.
also 2ml seaweed given from last 2 weeks once.
more LST done on day 60.
week 10;
the plant now seems good enough to flip to flowering. all nodes are at least 10 inches long and healthy. with coming days i need to defoliate more as this is a bushy plant.
a single feed of 10ml seaweed was given in a watering. rest average feeds of around 750 tds and ph 6.3 was given on alternate days.
still watering every alternate day or whenever the coco seems dry enough at 1 inch deep.
next 3 days again due to interruptions ; the light was given intermediately for around 13 hours and rest was darkness. from here we start our flowering weeks.
week 11;
so we flipped into flowering with 12/12 light schedule this week. the height of plant from bottom is max 13 inches.
so was really unsure about how much it would stretch and thinking of getting the best ; i think i mistakenly just let it veg a week longer.
tried to do full LST at the end of week which at start looked good and then just went back to where it was due to lack of ScrOG setup. next time shall surely do ScrOG.
along with LST ; even tried HST which was mainly breaking the branches from their trunks just a little bit. have noticed a more dense and bulkier bud on HST done branches before on autoflowers.
also alternate watering till midweek and then everyday watering initiated.
5ml of seaweed flush given at the end of week after a high feed a day before.
till date the amount of nutrients that i showed in nutrient selection above are on an average of week and are not exactly the same everyday of week. it mainly depends on looking at your plant and discovering what it needs and then feeding it the nutrients when required. also the concentrations are mixed in 1.5 liter or as shown in plant conditions and not per liter!!!!!!!!
week 12;
we are here at 2nd week of flowering and the plant already shows increase in pistil quantities and it is starting to stretch uncontrollably.
she is fed everyday for 5 days with an average on 850 tds of above mentioned nutrients but in 1.6 liters and not in a liter. last 2 days were flush.
the leaves seems dark green in color and it is a freaking bushy plant. gulps water and feeding easily within 24 hours and the pot is dry!!!!
bud sites have started developing.
week 13;
into 3rd week or flowering and man she is stretching alot.
small budlets have started forming along-with trichome production on the immediate bud leaves. not heavily yet but seems it shall increase in coming weeks.
also added 2 handfuls of vermicompost on the top soil just to aid in flowering during flush.
also started using b52 and voodoo juice at half strengths.
again would remind that the above mentioned nutrients are added to 1.6 liter and not 1 liter.
week 4 of flowering;
till date she is happy enough and stretching unexpectedly!!!!
this week 3 high alternate feedings of 1100 tds was given with in-between days of flushy. all above mentioned nutrients were mixed in 1.7 liter of pure ro water in order : micro , grow , bloom , b52 , voodoo juice . each nutrient mixed well before adding another. this ph perfect nutes never let the ph change. it is always around 5.7 to 6.0.
there is this distinctive smell of berries that one can notice. it increases by night and is at the peak when i switch off the lights. those 5 minutes ; heaven!!!!!
week 5 of flowering;
noticed some burnt tips like 1.5mm all over the plant along-with curled down leaves. also top leaves shows some pink tint. even the buds have those pink tint in them. disregard the crappy camera as i could not capture it perfectly.
due to some burn issues ; decided to give just one single feed of 500 tds in midweek where as all the other days was a flush with one day of seaweed and other just tap water ; all averaging to 100 tds. the plant looked happy at the end of week as a result. also tried leveling up the ph to 6.0 for flush.
the smell is now normal through out the day and peak at night.
week 6 of flowering;
so the smell has gone strong presenting of berries and a little bit bitter up-close. started a lower dose of black strap molasses that was food grade and without sulphur.
also started with 2 alternate higher doses(650 tds) of above mentioned nutrients in 1.8 liter water followed by pure 2 days flush and then 2 lower feedings(230 tds) to end the week.
some of the pistils are turning brown while there is more growth of new pistils . seems like it will now just get bulkier. also the trichomes when observed; found 30 to 40 percent still being transparent. the tint of dark pink color is visible through out the tops with most sugar leaves being dark pink to purple to black!!!!! all rounding up to a great week. hopefully it will get more bulk in coming weeks. DO LET ME KNOW YOUR VIEWS AS TO HOW MANY WEEKS STILL SHOULD I KEEP HER IN FLOWER AND WHEN DO I START FLUSHING FOR HARVEST.
week 7 of flowering;
as suspected last week ; the buds are now bulking up. the official breeder oaseeds stated that she is a 8 to 10 weeker in flower. have taken macro shots of those trichomes since everyday this week and analysed that most of trichomes like 55 to 60 percent are milky but rest are yet transparent. also found none of the amber trichomes and she is still bulking up like crazy till the end of week. guess this one is indeed a 10 week or plus strain in flower despite of many sites stating it is a low yielder and a 8 week strain.
so this week it seemed that she just started drinking more. i had to level up the feed to 2 liter per day!!!! is it more or just normal?? also feed her with above mentioned nutrients into 2 liters and not 1 liter. the leaves are curled down : though i feed when the pot is actually fully dry and light weight. do not know the reason behind those curls. checked some other growers complaining the same in this strain particularly. also this does not have any adverse effect on the buds as they are just bulking up and showing dark colors of pink with some orange pistils. she is in fact a beauty. the smell resembles strong of berries. hopefully she is ready to harvest soon enough in a week or 2.
week 8 of flowering;
unexpectedly reached this far with my first ever feminized grow... the temps here at day time are pretty harsh that may reach up-to 40 degrees Celsius. it was pure luck as i choose this strain at this time of year as later i found on breeder's page ; it is suitable for hot climates and resists bud rot well. luckily i did not stump into any problems with this pheno.
for the start of week ; she was fed with the above mentioned nutrients into 2 liters of water and not 1 rounding up the tds to 400 and phed every time at 6.2. then it was a flush for 2 days and then half of the nutrients (250 tds) was given at the last day to end the week.
as noticed on the last day of week ; 90 percent of trichomes have turned milky and rest are still transparent. well i want some amber trichomes ; so shall be waiting a week or 2 more with my flushing to start now on. also the fan leaves have started showing fading and yellowing and curling as if saying ; my time has come.
the buds have been really putting on some dankness as i had to tie support to each of those outside branches as they were leaning unevenly allover ;) have been taking macro shots everyday just to be right this time . hope to harvest soon ....
week 9 of flowering;
so we have reached this far and close to harvest. considered a maximum of a 10 weeker strain ; i started flushing this week with initially 2ml of unsulphered molasses in 3 liter of water. then the molasses amount was leveled up to 5ml in 3 liters of pure ro water at the end of week.
the buds have shown subsequent growth over this week with still 50/50 white pistils all over the plant and the tops doubling up in size. i guess she is going to take longer time to finish as i could still spot some transparent trichomes too(10 percent).leaves fading to red and then yellowing and then dying is seen at the bottom fan leaves. our goal of 30 percent amber trichomes may very well exceed the 10th week mark. but again lets see what the following week brings!!!
week 10 of flowering ;
so there was no considerable growth on buds this week ... though some new pistils here and there. though while watering just before it got dried out ; found that it has just doubled itself in weight!!!!! also this week was purely flush with chilled ro water and molasses followed by ice flush on the last days of week. till the end of week ; most of the pistils have turned brown like 90 percent. on taking macro shots ; found on the last day of week ; most trichomes have turned milky/cloudy and heads busting up like big balls and also some amber trichomes on sugar leaves plus some yellowish tints in some bud trichomes ; also all the fan leaves have completely faded and fallen of the plant ; and so i guessed she is now fully done and ripe.
extremely stable genetics from oaseeds. the pheno showed its sex rather early at 38 days with 18 hours of light and i thought it might hermie out. but rather she surprised me with an extreme bushy plant with thick stems and dark green leaf structure in veg. she was highly resistant to mold and bud rot considering the tropical weather here.she impressed me at the end with some highly resinous dank buds and a goosebumppy ride!!! loved to grow her and her clone is now ready to get big and again shower me some buds....to be continued.....
