First attempt at a grow. Going to do it in a south facing window with a lot of natural light. I am going to use a lamp and homemade reflective screen on the window ledge.
Day 1:
I soaked my seed in a glass of bottled water for 24hrs. I pushed (with a tweezers) the seed to the bottom of the glass after 14hrs.
Day 2:
I then poured the seed and water onto a paper towel on a plate. Covering the seed in another sheet of tissue, making sure it stayed wet and in the dark for another 24hrs.
Day 3:
I then had a white taproot sprout out. Time to plant.
I planted in a 8ltr pot with regular peat soil. I dug a small hole and placed the seed taproot down into the soil using the tweezers. I then left it on the window ledge, with the screen. Sun sets around 2030 so I’m using a house lamp to keep light and heat for extra hours.
Day 4:
I awoke this morning to find a wee little sprout popping up through the soil. I am keeping the soil moist by misting with mineral water.
Its ALIVE!!!
Still giving our little guy 18hrs of light and 6 of darkness. I am still only feeding it a small amount of water each night before the light goes off. On Monday I started using a new led bulb, but after a week of this I have reverted back to my original bulb as I feel the original gives off more heat which I think will be vital in the climate here as it never gets overly warm here.
It seems I was right to change the bulb too as there seems to of been a wee growth spurt during the night.
I bought a new grow light from amazon today it is a 50w full spectrum grow lamp, I am hoping this will give the wee guy a good bit of love!
I have been recommended to use tomato feed, after about 3 or 4 weeks so will give that a go too!
Really enjoying this so far :)
This was a good week. Small amount of growth, nothing special but tipping along nicely.
I started using my new grow lamp, see the pictures above. It is nothing special, only 50w led, it says it replaces 150hpw. I am not too familiar with lights and their strengths and stuff, but there is a serious amount of light projected from this lamp, hopefully will help along the growing.
I am still watering it quite lightly, less than 118ml per day. Should I increase this?
A bit more growth this week, a few more leaves sprouting up. The first leaves to grow have started to yellow slightly. Is this normal? I think maybe they die off as the rest grows?
Keeping it on the 18hr to 6 hr light schedule. I am rotating it slightly, at 8am I leave the plant on the window ledge with the lights on. At 12pm then the lights go off and its straight sunlight until about 7pm when the lights go back on until 2am. I also have been using a dyson airblade to help keep the temperature up as some evenings have been really cold.
I am still only watering 118ml per day. Should I increase this?
Also what nutrients should I use? I have been thinking to use tomato feed as I heard this works well and is easily available in my country.
