Transplanted to solo cup on Day 10. Day 15, roots already coming through the bottom holes. Left her outside in the sun for the afternoon on Day 14 and leaves show browning the next day. Will monitor. She looks strong and is showing her 4th set of leaves.
Transplanted from solo cup to 2 gallon clay pot on Day 22. 7th set of leaves are emerging and 3 nodes have new leaves coming from the base of the node leaves. Lower leaves are browning off; upper leaves are green and healthy.
Decided to train her down as I go, instead of topping. She's going to be my mother, so I didn't want to cut her, just let her spread out. The lower nodes are now growing out from the main stem. She is very healthy and the dominant fan leaves are now 9-lobed. I will continue using garden staples and spread her around the top of the pot area. Something new for me.
Day 35 - Mother Superior gave me the Seven Sisters today. Cloned out and into rockwool. I had her trained flat, so her lower leaf sets developed into healthy clone material. I then decided to top her and let her bush out. I'll leave her alone now and concentrate on the Seven Sisters. She measured a full 10 inches once stretched out, before cloning.
Life got in the way with home renovations, but the grow continues to go along quite nicely. I'm continuing with a Miracle-gro (15-20-15) solution once very third watering. Responding quite nicely. Bud development getting thick at the top and down the stalk about 6 to 8 inches. Strong aroma and very sticky at the bud. Life is good.
Week 7 complete under flowering schedule. Buds filling out nicely and trichome counts increasing. Not quite as thick in the bud as a previous Vanilla Kush grow, but with T-5s it's difficult to get the light down deep along the stem. I may have to upgrade after this grow, depending on yield. I do like the T-5s because they provide just enough warmth for my basement grow and the heat does not have to be vented. I just keep the fan going and at night I lift off the top cover to vent moisture. The aphids have pretty well disappeared and are no longer an issue. I think I'll take these girls another two weeks.
Week 8 complete under flowering schedule. Checked the trichomes yesterday and was surprised to see mostly still clear with maybe 40% turning cloudy. Very, very few amber. Pistils are still dominantly white. Will take these girls another week and keep an eye on trichome development. I'm concerned the aphids are again colonizing my crop. Nothing noticeable in damage they are doing, but I may have some clean-up to do, come harvest time.
I chopped down the Church yesterday. Let us all bow our heads in remembrance. The wet weight is deceiving, since she's hanging by branches that are included in the weight. I did do a wet trim however, so I'm expecting at least 5 to 8 ounces from these girls. They give off a diesel aroma which is not unpleasant, but quite strong. I haven't yet sampled the goods, but will come back after they are jarred and cured a little. Happy growing everyone and thanks to those following along. Cheers. UPDATE: After 5 days of drying, these girls yielded 209g/7.37oz. Pretty well on target for what I expected. Smoked a little harsh, but hasn't aged yet. More of a Sativa feel at the moment. Will see in a month or two. Happy growing.
This is a great strain, and is easy to grow. Although, if could say something, it looks like yours is a little overwatered. Hopefully the clay pot will be better for drainage, but with the leaves swelling up like that, and the lower ones browning already, it is usually a good indicator it could use less water.
@MovingOn, Thanks for the comment, Doc! I thought the same thing, but I'm very particular about my watering habits. I was thinking the ProMix I'm using didn't have enough aeration, so I added extra perlite to the clay pot mix. We'll see how she looks in a few days.
