Day 1 (15th): So this is day 1 for this lil guy. He has officially popped his head out. So not really Veg week 1, but I am going to start it here. I put the seed in a jiffy pellet on the 7th of May and on the 15th (Today) he stuck his head out. Its in the middle of the week, so may update this later, but will leave as is for now.
I am using heating pads underneath the pot as it is winter here and quite chilly at night and during the day. For that reason my 6 hours off will also be in the afternoon (warmest time) and I will let the LED run at night. Even though it doesn't put out much heat, it will put out some. If this doesn't end up being enough heat I will need to get another bar type heater. But as this is a DIY tent I do not really want to go down that road.
The heating pads underneath go to around 38-40 C and should keep the roots warm enough at least. But I will see in the coming days and as it gets colder as we are only at the beginning now.
Update:>>> I added a heater now. Getting it nice and toasty now which is great.
Day 8 (21.05) Update: So this week started off a lot better. The temps are more consistent now after I automated the heater. I am also getting into a watering routine, although currently the watering requirements are of course very low.
This little guy is growing nicely with days 6-8 showing the second set of real leaves starting to grow, although still very small. I lowered the lights this week initially down to 70cm from the canopy and then to 60cm as the Bubbleberry that I am growing with this Bubba Kush was stretching a bit much for my liking.
I am still just watering with un-PHd bottled water. But I think I will correct the PH from now onwards so that I do not affect the medium. As I am using Freedom Farm Soils, the recommended PH is 5.5-6.0. This is as the medium is buffered against lowered PH but not against PH rising. Especially from using un-PHd tap water. Which here by me is over 7.0 of course. The bottled water I am using is at 7.0 so even that is a problem, but I did not want to mess with the seedling in the first week or so.
So I watered yesterday (day 7) and will from the next watering today or tomorrow start adjusting the PH to between 5.5 and 6.0. Probably leaning more towards the 6.0 mark.
Once we hit the 2 week mark we should be in veg, but I will see what the plant is looking like. I will then be starting the nutes feed as well using BioBiozz Grow to start.
Day 12 (25.05) - Just some pics to update. I also started watering with PHd water now. I am using bottled water although I have found a source of RO water now that is relatively cheap. First water I did I dropped down to 5.8 from 6.8. 1ml of lemon juice in 1l of water did that perfectly. Growth is looking good and the 3rd node is about to start.
Plant seems to be growing nicely. Will be starting nutes in week 4 which is coming up shortly.
Other than that, not much to report. Plant is starting the 4th node, so I will top there when it is time. The light height was reduced due to my other plant stretching, but it should do this one good as it was also starting to stretch a little.
Day 20 - The nutes begin! I am running the first week or so (week 3 and 4) a t half strength, so 0.5ml per litre. Will up it to 1ml soon enough and then leave it at that until flowering begins.
Day 21 - Pics updated. Plant is growing nice and strong. Will top within the next couple of days probably once the 4th node is out properly.
Quick pick update for Day 22. More updates to follow in the week
Updates: Some more pics uploaded. Not much to report except for nice strong growth. Going to be topping this guy later in the week or early on in the next week depending on the 5th node now popping out nicely. Been watering with nutes and a ph of around 5.8 - 6.2 with a slight change in PH for every feed.
Day 28 - 9.06 - Pic updates. She has been growing nicely, so I topped her.
Day 29 - 11.06 - Pic updates. She is growing nice and strong. The lower nodes have had quite a growth spurt. The topping seems to have gone well but the new branches are still growing. Also got a pic under some normal light. Nutes are still at half strength for now.
Day 30 - 12.06 - Pic updates. All looking good.
Day 31 - 13.06 - Pic updates. All looking good.
Day 33 - 15.06 - Pic updates. Now we can rally see the new branches coming through. As well as the lower nodes getting more light. The plan is now to top again once the 3rd node is showing. That should then give the lower node and branches some time to grow to the same height. I may end up doing some LST to pull the whole plant over and let the bottom catch up if the topping does not do it. Overall for now we would be planning for 6 main heads, but I may top again.
Day 34 - 16.06 - Pic updates. You can see what I was talking about above here nice and clearly. Overall I think this is my healthiest plant and has dealt with the stress the best for now. Nutes are now also at full strength for my medium (1ml/l). I water about 400ml every 3-4 days. She is drinking slightly more than the Bubbleberry.
Day 36 - 18.06 - Pic updates. Growing nice and strong and the lower nodes are starting to catch up. Temps are down a bit for the last week due to weather, but so far she is handling it well.
Day 39 - 21.06.2020 - Pic updates. Growing nicely and bushing out. Further topping and training to come.
Day 41 - 23.06.2020 - Pic updates. So the lower node has shot up and caught up almost all the way. I have topped both the lower node and the main upper node. I have also trained her better now. The hope is that the lowest node catches up also now. If not I will trim her more as I already trimmed off the very first node to avoid energy being put in there. This would be 8 main bud sites already and will probably end up being more as the lower node another lower node on it also which should grow and catch up. So the total might be around 14 then. I don't think I will top her again, but it depends how long the dark devil auto (same tent) takes and what I do there. We shall see.
Day 42 - 24.06.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 48 - 30.06.2020 - Pic Updates. I have been training her a lot and she is still looking really good. Once I flip to flower I will transplant her into her final 20 litre pot. No more topping or anything needed just some training. Depending on the auto I have growing in the same tent I will switch this one to flower soon or wait.
Day 53 - 5.07.2020 - Pic updates. Training continues and some more watering. She is starting to drink nicely now.
Day 54 - 6.07.2020 - Pic updates. I am still varying the ph of the waterings with every feed and still feeding every 3-4 days or so. I have reduced the humidity down a bit as my other plant goes into flower and these are nearing their own time to flip.
Day 56 - 8.07.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 57 - 9.07.2020 - Pic updates. I have now turned on the bloom switch on the light and turned off the grow switch. It is slightly stronger, so I raised the light a bit. I will put the grow switch back on again in a few weeks to basically ramp up the lighting as we progress with the Dark devil which is in the same tent. I am still hoping the dark devil finishes by the time I flip these, or is closer to being done at least.
Day 59 - 11.07.2020 - Pic updates and more LST training. The main node where I split it is growing nicely. The next node still has some catching up to do, especially on the lower nodes on those branches then. But if all goes well I should be getting a nice even canopy.
Day 61 - 13.07.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 62 - 14.07.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 65 - 17.07.2020 - Pic updates. Hoping to still keep these guys in veg for another week or 2 and then flip them.
Day 68 - 20.07.2020 - Pic updates. She is looking strong. A few of the branches cracked a bit after some pretty intensive HST. I will leave her be and hopefully continue the even canopy with a ScrOG net.
Day 69 - 21.07.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 71 - 23.07.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 72 - 24.07.2020 - Pic updates. She is really looking good and I would normally flip to flower now. But I am waiting for the Dark devil to be further along. I am considering transplanting her though, and then flipping to flower as of week 12. Will see what I think later. I have relaxed on the LST now as she is looking good. Once I get the trellis net up it will allow me to train a bit more. The temps have come up a bit with warmer weather here. I also noticed the PH of the soil is 7.0 and so is the run off. Checking my soil out the bag it is the same. So am thinking the next waterings need to rather be below 6.0. The company I use suggests 5.5-6.0. I have mainly been sticking to that with the odd watering being 6.1.
Day 73 - 25.07.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 75 - 27.07.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 78 - 30.07.2020 - Pic updates. So today was transplant day. I have now moved them to a 20 litre pot for flower. The roots looked good and haven't circled too much. I moved them a bit to encourage growth into the new medium. I will give them 1-2 weeks to recover (while the Dark devil in the same tent continues) and then I will flip to flower. I will be doing some defoliating soon too. I planted her a bit deeper as she had stretched.
Day 82 - 3.08.2020 - Pic updates. She has recovered nicely from the transplant. I did water her last around the 5.6 mark, so hoping that will bring down the mediums PH slightly. I will defoliate her later this week.
Day 83 - 4.08.2020 - Pic updates. I am continuing my waterings at a PH of 5.6 and that should keep the medium in a happy place. As the Dark Devil plant looks like it is starting to near completion. I am contemplating flipping this one to flower soon. Either in a week or 2. But lets see. I also got a nice bit of defoliation in as well as some more LST to even her out even more.
Day 86 - 7.08.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 88 - 9.08.2020 - Pic updates. She took well to the defoliation and I have some solid stems/heads that will grow nicely once flipped. So the training has paid off. Once I get the scrog net in I will flatten those and no doubt create more heads.
Day 91 - 13.08.2020 - Pic updates. So as of today I am changing the lighting to 12-12 to start getting them in to flower. The Dark Devil in the same tent is finishing off so the timing is right. Looking forward to seeing what this lady produces. I will also start feeding bloom nutes with the next feeding (tonight) to start boosting that side.
Day 92 - 14.08.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 93 - 15.08.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 97 - 19.08.2020 - Pic updates. She has a decent even canopy cover, clean under carriage and is primed to shoot up. I will be installing a trellis net as soon as the Dark devil is done and I can move her out (probably 1-2 weeks max). And then I will pull down and train the branches. I could of gotten the training a bit better here, but I will still work on that in early flower. But she is definitely primed and ready to grow some nice buds. Some little pre flowers have started, so she is on her way.
Day 99 - 21.08.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 102 - 24.08.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 103 - 25.08.2020 - Pic updates. She is looking good. She is growing well and quite a few pistils have started to appear. She has shot up a little bit and is in need of training, but I am waiting for the Dark Devil auto to finish still.
Day 104 - 26.08.2020 - Pic updates. I gave her a nice defoliation to get more light to the lower canopy and clean up the canopy also.
Day 106 - 28.08.2020 - Pic updates. Some further LST just to get the 2 taller branches to grow outward a bit more and give the others some time to catch up.
Day 108 - 30.08.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 111 - 2.09.2020 - Pic updates. First feeding with Molasses. I am going to keep adding some as I go to help feed the microbiology in the medium. The pistils are shooting out nicely now so she seems to be doing rather good.
Day 117 - 8.09.2020 - Pic updates. She is looking good and adding on pistils like crazy. The Dark Devil should be done by this week, so I can get the trellis net in for a tiny bit more training and support. I also cleaned up the bottom area a bit to lollipop her somewhat.
Day 120 - 11.09.2020 - Pic updates. She is adding on pistils like crazy. The nodes are spaced nicely together but with some distance, so I am hoping she stacks buds nicely.
Day 123 - 14.09.2020 - Pic updates. Ever since raising the light and turning on the bloom and veg switch, these two ladies seem to be loving it.
Day 126 - 17.09.2020 - Pic updates.
Day 128 - 19.09.2020 - Pic updates. All is going well. The feedings continue, and the growth continues. Happy so far with what I am seeing.
If it's just one of your plants get it out of your room before it turns everything to seed. If its manageable, pull nanners off. Too many then chop that plant and get what you can from her. Cheers friend
Day 133 - 24.09.2020. So I had to boot this lady back to an outdoor grow. She started throwing bananas already even though we are a while away from harvest. I read a fair amount about it and opinions vary from leave it, to remove it so it does not affect your other plants, to chop it down. So I have removed her to be on the safe side. I also picked as many of them off as I could (after spraying them with water). She looks happy outside though.
Day 137 - 28.09.2020 - Pic updates. She is doing well. Still lacking a lot of bud growth, but they are nice and dense so far. She has a bit to grow. I have started with compost teas as I am anyway feeding teas to my other plant. This will hopefully boost her nicely.
Day 143 - 4.10.2020 - Pic updates. She is getting there. Plenty clear trichomes I saw (not all seen here) so I reckon she still has a while to go. I stopped feeding nutes halfway through the week now.
Day 150 - 11.10.2020 - Pic updates. She is getting there. Plenty clear trichomes I saw (not all seen here) so I reckon she still has a while to go.
Day 152 - 13.10.2020 - Pic updates. She is fattening up some more and getting more purple leaves.
Day 157 - 18.10.2020 - Pic updates. Trichomes are going nicely opaque. She will be going into darkness on 20.10 and then cut on the 22.10
Day 161 - 22.10.2020 - Pic updates. After 2 days in darkness she got the cut. 136g wet. Will update with Harvest once done.
