Unknown Strain Lockdown Project

Germinated unknown seed I found on top of my dresser in my room. Used the old primary school method of damp cotton wool with seed inside in a dark c up board for a couple of days. Once tail had sprouted I planted it in some multi purpose compost I borrowed from my neighbours greenhouse. First week of lockdown, I was bored and had nothing else to use.

I started this wee thing out on my window ledge then out it and into a modified aquarium for a few days till I got a tent sorted. Seems to be going ok

Have had it under a 50w 4 arm clip on table top lamp. It’s growing well I think. It’s potted in canna coco plant medium, I got some from a friend that was finished with his grow operation, got some canna a, canna b from him too. I put a tiny drop in a litre bottle of water less than 1.25ml with ph to about 6.5. I was unsure if it needs nutrients now or when to start feeding it. This far its been tap water

That’s the plant under the 300W LED full spectrum Dual Optical Lense now. Hopefully see a massive difference going forward. Kept the small clip on lamp in the tent too and will use it to aim towards those hard to reach areas as the grow progresses. This started out as a bit of a joke “yeah let’s grow it on the windowsill” to spending my days on lockdown educating myself on everything to do with cannabis cultivation at home lol now I really want to do it n have some autos on hand if this one comes to nothing or ends up a Male Edit* Plant looks a little droopy today, I have only given it a trickle of water every other day for the last 6 days as I may have over potted it and overwatered it About a week ago. Hopefully it will drink up the remaining moisture in the pot and perk up somewhat.

Topped the plant on Friday and started 12/12 cycle.

Plant has flourished since I topped her and started 12/12 cycle. Lots of new growth all over EDIT* She has exploded over this last week, will be moving to a bigger pot and trying out some LST as I’m having an issue with leaves touching n getting damp, I want to stretch her out n flatten her to allow the leaves more room

Getting excited watching this thing grow. Everything seems to be okay, I dunno, this is my first grow so juss a g winging it if I’m honest 😂 Potted to larger pot a mate gave me, 12L possibly, I’m not sure. Anyway since she went in there WOW!she has grown so much, and I can seee my first pistols starting to come through.

Flowers starting to grow everywhere now. LST has widened her out a lot and is giving those bud sites great light now. Hoping everything I have done so far will help me gain a decent yield. Looking forward to the next few weeks. When will it stop growing up the way? I’m almost out of tent space and what do you do if it gets to big? Just let it hit the top lol slight aroma inside the tent now too, I’m hoping I will be able to identify the strain from the smell and look of the buds.

Done a bit of trimming this week to let the light flood as many of the budsites as possible.

Been another week of smooth sailing, literally had no issues at all. Done a bit of defoliation the large lower down leaves and some of the smaller budsites that were receiving little to no light. Buds are starting to fatten up a little and starting to see plenty of trichomes all over the leaves at the budsites.

Buds look like they have fattened up a good bit this week. I have introduced boost into my feeding schedule I probably should have been using it for the full of flower but I was unaware and unsure if it was even required. I’m going with it now. Again I’m not sure how long this girl has left as it is my first grow. Just been keeping an eye on it every day and looking closely at it with my Loupe. All the trichomes are still clear, I have noticed orange thread like hairs appearing through the buds. Smell has increased a lot in the last week.

Lots of pistils turning yellow and orange. Trichomes are still clear on the ends. Going to keep a close eye on her this week. Fed today with nutes. Not sure when I should start the flush? Most of my leaves are yellow at the very tip.

Most of the trichomes are milky now so started to flush with PH Water 6.2 and 2ml canna boost. EDIT: note to self. Always use a loupe rather than your phone camera to check trichs!! Turns out on a closer look most of not all of my trichomes still have clear ball on the end. I only gave one feed that was just water and the Canna Boost, reduces my nutrients by half and carried on that way for the rest of the week. See how they progressed

Everything ok. Leaves starting to curl slightly and yellow more on the tips. I’m not sure when to harvest this as the top colas are nice and firm but the lower portions are still squishy. Most of the Trichomes still look clear at the ends so going to give her another week. EDIT: Reduced nutes by half again this week, still no change of the trichomes, this plant is going way longer than I expected. Will start flush next week and hopefully she will be winding down now. May have to try a longer dark period to force her to speed things along. 11/13 10/14 dunno 🤷‍♂️🏽

Not many photos this week as there is not much change, just a little swelling of the buds. It’s actually been real clammy in Scotland this week so my humidity has been higher than I would like, tried opening up one of the large flaps in the side of the tent to help but that just caused my whole house to reek of that sweet smell, plus you could smell it around the perimeter of the house. 😂 don’t underestimate carbon filters for odour scrubbing that’s for sure. Awesome stuff. Been getting flushed with PH balanced water and canna boost for about 7-10 days now, started to see a vast change of the trichomes literally overnight, this next week coming will be the last and she will be getting the chop. Yaaaaassss can’t wait.

Plants got around 50/50 clear and milky trichomes now, I have spotted one or two ambers so it’s just been a case of continuing to flush whilst checking the trichomes 3 or 4 times a day. I genuinely thought I was at this stage around two weeks ago I maybe misjudged it out of excitement as it’s my first grow. I’m looking for a nice head high that goes into a couch lock stone so I’m just waiting for more milky & Amber trichs. Put over 100 days into this beauty so just going to be patient and chop her at the perfect moment. Hopefully any day now. I’ve had two auto flowers inside this tent the whole time this one has been flowering, I done it as a wee experiment to see what autos would produce under 12/12 from seed. One of them a blueberry auto smells amazing and is super sticky but the yield looks very low, less than an Oz I would say, the other is a BCN Critical XXL auto and it is stacked with fat buds, really hoping it will have over an Oz come harvest. The two autos grew to around a foot high from soil to the top colas. I topped them both and LST too. I’m hoping all 3 will be ready at the same time so I can dry them in the tent with the carbon filter, if not I will need to dry the big one in my homemade dry box with PC fan extractor, I’ve still not come up with a homemade carbon filter yet though, 🤔

It all started when I was rolling a joint 2 days into lockdown n a wee seed rolled out from behind the aftershave bottles on my dresser. From then till now I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, I never knew watching a plant grow from seed could be so rewarding, given the current global situation with COVID 19 it kept my mind n thoughts away from all the negative media and scaremongering. Instead of taking it all in and letting myself be controlled by media driven fear I educated myself on the growth cycle of a cannabis plant and set about germinating the seed. Once the tap root appeared I planted it in a yogurt pot with a little bit of multi purpose compost and left it on the window sill. After a day or so it popped it’s head out the soil, that day was the 20th April so when I made the 420 connection I decided to name it Corona 420 as it was an unknown strain. Some might think it’s stupid but at the time it seemed quite fitting n a little clever. After it grew a little I ended up putting it in the garden during the day as we were blessed with about 3 weeks sunshine at the start of lockdown. A friend of mine gave me some canna coco so I used the canna range of nutes all the way through then flushed for about two weeks before harvest. So happy I got it all the way to the end can’t wait to try it in a couple of weeks once it’s cured in the jar. Will update taste and effect when I smoke the bud, I’ve rated its effect I got from smoking the dust I collected from trimming it all.
