This week was full of surprises and a lot of learning from mistakes made which I will update throughout
Day 0
I put water in a pan and let the jiffy peat pellets absorb as much as they could. Should've left them for 10 mins as most people say but I just drained the excess water once they stopped growing. Only realised after the seeds had been put in so I just left it as is.
The 4 together are the Zkittles Auto, the 3 in a line are the Northern Lights Auto and the 1 on its own was the Silver Widow
P.S don't knock me on my cling film around a baking tray LOL, it was the best thing I had as a tray
Day 1-3
So I have a porch where it was really warm as the sun beams into it. I put the peat pellets there but it was also in direct sunlight so the pellets were drying out. Kept watering them throughout and then decided to put the tray on top of my cable box in a cupboard. Not much airflow or humidity but it was kept nice and warm, until the cable box turned itself off every night!
Day 4
To my surprise, most of the seeds had sprouted!
1 seed is peaking from under the top of the soil
1 wasn't showing any signs of sprouting
Day 5
7/8 Sprouted, the last one has finally started to peak just under the soil!
I decided to put my GoPro on and record the one that was peaking out. I haven't even looked at the time-lapse yet but I will upload it soon!
Day 6
All of the seeds have sprouted now. Put them outside for a bit in direct sunlight and some fresh air!
Day 7 - The first day of chaos
I bring the tray inside for the evening and over night so its warmer. Put them back in the porch and then during the day I put them outside.
Well today I made such a stupid mistake! I put the tray on a plastic garden chair and today was very windy! The wind was so strong it knocked the chair over sending my seedlings flying and rolling on the concrete.
So now I have no idea which plant is which strain. I separated some as I could make them out from old pictures with the yellow mark on the leaves.
My stupid mistake caused one of the seedlings stem to crack in 3 places! I tried to use some rope to assist the plant but this was a silly idea as I read a better idea a day later. I was fiddling around with this plant a lot, trying to get it in the best position and I don't think that helped it to survive.
The rest of the seedlings look like they're doing just fine :)
During this first week I was watering the peat pellet with tap water. The reading I'm getting on my good old cheapo ph tester was around 7.6. It's high but it will do for now until I get some bottled water and correct it down to around 6.5
Temperature throughout this week was lows of 9 degrees Celsius and highs of 23
