Week 7 and more trichomes turning orange. Calyx seem like 30milky/70water. Few spots in both new and old fan leafs appear. Bio-Grow reduced to 1ml/l and bloom to 4ml/l. Nugs looking good getting fatter and more sticky :D Also smell has increased noticeably... More orange trichomes and more milky calyxes! Lets go!

Hello fellow growers! First timer here. Noticed salt residues on top of leafs (D19 pics). They come from the mist maker who controls humidity levels 1) How to treat their leafs? 2) a tap water filter will improve the situation or salts are normal? Peace! πŸ‘Š

HI! My tap water is over 550ppm (parts per million) TDS.! VERY HARD! If you don't have a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) meter you need one. As well as a PH meter for measuring feed water. Less than $40 for both. As a first-timer, your plants can only eat so much after which they suffer from overeating in what we call "Locke out ". Your water has residual solids (rainwater in the single digits up to like my tap water at over 550ppm. Cannabis needs little food provided to seedlings then progressively more thru the veg cycle and even more at flowering. You will find suggestive charts easily. I blend rainwater with filtered aged tap water to make what we call "constructed water". Then add whatever fertilizer/food to that until I'm at the appropriate level of Total Dissolved Solids for that stage of the plant's evolution. The "salts" you mention are dried solids from the mist, evocative of HARD water. Hard water limits the supplements you can add before you reach "lockout" where the plant can eat no more and suffers. Keep you mist water and feed water to within the TDS levels appropriate and you won't see residue on the leaves. Instead, you'll be maxing out your plant's possibilities!

Saludos 😜

Looks like a fim to me as I see 3 growth tips up top there. But could be my stoned squinty eyes. I wouldn't recommend going right at her with another topping attempt right away. Give her 4-5 days to bounce back. Once u see her growth pick back up. She will than be ready for another topping. Every pheno bounces back in there own time. Watch for her growth to normalize again... than give her another go if u truly dont like the outcome of ur fim. Hey u might like the result u get from the fim. Happy growing and stay lit fam.

Now that both seeds sprouted I took them out of the tent for an hour in order to catch some natural light and also get some fresh air. Moist feed them with 125ml each of PHd(6.0) water and 2ml/L root-juice! Moist applied on the outer of the pot and sides of jiffy. Also placed a small plastic cup above the sprouts to avoid direct contact with water :)

@uTech420, It’s nice you give them natural light, but... Every time you give them different light they have to adjust, and that becomes a stress factor. So I believe it’s better to just leave them under the lamp πŸ˜‰

Yo all ✊ I had to leave for the weekend and girls were left alone... This time I fucked it up a bit since I did not get into account the room temperature... House was closed for the weekend and temperature rised! For 2 days girls were having a sunbath at 30-32 Celsius and 50-55 RH... When got back I did not know what to expect but to my surprise girls showed huge progress and the got some height and also showed up their first pair of leafs! Soil was dry and I misted them again. Around 125ml each with 2ml/L root-juice. Also raised my lights at 80cm from canopy. Grow conditions back in normal at 26-27 Celsius and 60-70 RH πŸ’ͺ We are back in the game! πŸ‘Œ

Holla fellow growers! We are heading towards the end of first week and I already had a taste of the anxiety feeling regarding our growing babies. At first I was not even sure about them... If I planted them ok, if I water them ok etc... Well Barney's did a good job on the seeds and after 80hours from plant both seeds came out :) So, these are good news! Today I will mist them once more and also feed them with a small dosage of root-juice! I will also change my light schedule to 18-6 Peace y all! stay safe and keep grow!

@GDub51 and @@@@NobodysBuds thank you both for the answers regarding the residues guys! Now to the point. My climate control setup consists of a set of custom electronics that I have programmed to control the mist maker, ventilation, fan and lights depending on a temperature and humidity sensor which is placed above the canopy. Only "sophistication" up to now is that I m following the VPD table regarding humidity control and I replace the air every second minute. Regarding feeding I went by the full class of Biobizz and follow their nutrient guide for fullmix soil - cutted in half for now. Normally, my solution consists of boiled tap water which rests for couple of hours. Then I add the nutrients and then I ph the whole solution together. So anything that goes in soil is PHd. I have already ordered a TDS because I had doubts of my feed schedule and how much do they need as GDub51 mentions. Apparently there is no PPM reference in biobizz schedule but I will try to cross check it with some generic ec vs growth charts I found. My main concern is the mist and the humidity levels... As we speak I need about 10 liters of water every 36 hours to keep my RH into correct VPD values - provided that I recirculate the air every second minute... There is no way to have that amount of RO or rain in the mist tank... So it is easy to say that I need to soften my tap water. Not sure if a simple filter will do the job though. Any recommendations? Please dont go to reverse osmosis at home cause of the money needed... Do you believe that as soon as I use RO for the soil and I keep washing them once a week from the mist residues until I find a way to soften my water, that they will be ok? Unfortunately I dont have the experience to evaluate the severance of residues in leaves. Sorry for the long answers and thank you again for you time and answers! Nobody01 - ultrasonic humidifier is custom as well so I will go through the idea of pushing the mist up and then fan it to plants and see if it reduces the residues problem but I dont see that happen tbh! PS: Without having a TDS meter at hand I see from online tables that the region here is at 150PPM with a maximum of 250... That does not add up to the residues and hardness of water. Need to verify the values with a meter.... Though residues are coming from the tap water and the mist tank. DEFO! I see them on the mist tank, in the tent - everywhere

@uTech420, I have seen RO units that produce about 10 gal. / day for under $100. My filters both carbon and ionic are a failure in dealing with hard water. I'll probably spring for an RO unit this year. I'll report on it's usefulness and efficacy. Have no way to know how much organic food the plants are getting. Following instructions as provided, but most of organic is guess work. Hard to burn with organic's? Well, they burn up my cash pretty quick. Almost 3 times chemical cost not to mention the extra hardware (bubbler, pump, air stones, buckets etc) So it's still under $200 a year plus water. So whatever proves out , it will be the result that commands.
GDub51
GDub51
@uTech420,My constructed water will run out of its reserve rainwater soon. Carbon filters will do nothing for TDS. One needs an Ion filter. I found one that was affordable and will report back when I start using it. I've battled with over 550ppm tap water limiting what I can feed my grow. By the way uBud, I am not sure why you boil your water? a day of outdoor exposure for your tap water will off-gas the chlorine quite well. Save the energy.
uTech420
uTech420
@@NobodysBuds, bro you burned me for a moment but you gave me another idea...! Turning down the duty cycle of the humidifier to 1/5th of what it is will cause instability to RH and then VPD will be out of range and blah blah... BUT! To compensate I could reduce my air circulation to once every 10 minutes and that would compensate the reduced cycle of the humidifier! Also it would help keeping noise levels down. Though CO2 levels will drop... Hmmm... this just add a CO2 sensor in the platform 😎

@uTech420, Great choice for the tent! πŸ‘πŸ˜ I would strongly recommend you buying a LED lamp. I can show you where I got mine from Hongkong(Meiji). With a 250w led(costs ca. 200€) you can get as much dry buds as you would get with a 400w HPS. And if you really wanna go wild you put bath a 250w led and your 250w HPS in your new tent πŸ˜‰ But then you definitely have to have lights on at night, cuz your tent will warm up your whole house πŸ˜„

@Green_Dream, hey bro! How is going? Thanks for good words :) The truth is that so far I enjoyed stretching them under the net and trying to picture them in my mind of how they should be :P Humidity is running at low 40s during day cycle and low 50s during night so I believe I m ok with that! I was really scared of them stretching even more and reaching too close to the lights. That would be a disaster... I had to act and I decided to do an early upgrade on my setup! I went ahead and bought a decent tent :P Secret Jardin Dark Room V3 was what I picked with dimensions of 1.20m x 1.20m x 2.00m !!! I got it yesterday and spend a full day preparing their new mansion! I m gonna update my GD today with picks and details. In short, they now have plenty of space :) I got them stretched even more and did a proper cleaning! Stay tuned for the update! Question: Should I replace my HPS lamp with a 400w one? I m running on a 250w as we speak but I feel like the 400w would be a better choice now that they got more space!

uTech420week 2
Ending of D1W2 and I already messed it up... 😱 After misting each lady with 100ml of plain water (PH 6.0) I reconfigured my fan in order to "giggle" them... hmm... that did not go very well.... Air was too much for one of them and she had dropped dead! I needed a CPR to recover at first... Then I started doing some gymnastics on her stem to bring her up! That went quite well I can say! In order to support her for the first hours I made a small pyramid with soil at the base of the stem and also placed a plastic cup above her. Finally I cleaned her leafs from excess water drops and some soil... I hope that she will recover and turn her leafs back up!

uTech420week 1
Holla fellow growers! End of week 1 for my ladies and everything run smooth. Considering that this was the seedling week we have already got 5cm height and the second set of leafs are showing up! Also the stem has turned into purple/brown (that's good, right?) Over this first week girls have been treated only with a small amount of root-juice (2ml/l) and PHd (6.0) water. In total I have mist about 350-400 ml in each pot and have also used another 500ml (each) when preparing my pots and jiffys! Hopefully, over the next week we will double our height, grow our second set of leafs and start seeing the 3rd. Once we get there, I will start feeding for growing and also plan my LST and topping πŸ’ͺπŸ™ Again if any of you has a comment or a suggestion regarding my progress and "tactics", it is more than welcome! Dont forget that it is my first ever grow and I m trying to adjust to all the information I m getting regarding growing our beloved fruits πŸ˜‹

They look great! πŸ‘ They keep growing during the night hours, that growth hasn’t been exposed to light yet, so there’s less chlorophyl in the leaf, hence the light green color. Try to check them out right before lights out. The color should be more uniform πŸ˜‰

@uTech420, Tbh I haven’t done that much research into temperature and humidity. I just know that they like higher humidity in veg. The main concern for me is to avoid fungus and root rot. And the best way to do that is to have good air ventilation with fresh air. And low humidity, especially at the end of flowering when the buds get thick 😁 Fungus is such a nasty thing!!! I try to keep temps between 20-25.
uTech420
uTech420
@Green_Dream, indeed man! Girl showed some strength there :) FYI, I was looking more into the VPD table and how it affects plant growth! Apparently I found some more detailed tables which have different curves for propagation/vegetation/flowering. These value come closer to what you suggested about 50s RH and 25-26 temperatures during flowering! What is more interesting though is that I found a guy who did some experiments and he verified that running among the VPD curve measured higher Co2 consumption rates than when running below or above the curve. Effectively that proves the theory of the stomata activation and it should boost plants metabolism! We will see πŸ’ͺ

uTech420
uTech420
@Green_Dream, I ve been thinking of this option but I m not really sure if the girls will like it. If I run my day cycle during the night hours this will drop my temperatures for sure. The thing is that the "day" temperatures will be very close to "night" temperatures and I m not sure if this is good. I would expect that they would like to understand a temperature difference at night. I will have to search more for this. As for humidity, to my understanding is a temperature dependent factor. Plants will follow our day/night cycle in order to grow and this cycle massively affects temperatures also! Now, according to VPD table we need to keep a sweet balance between temperature/humidity at any given time in order to optimize the functioning of plant's stomata. Humidity ranges of 50 would imply a temperature of 23 Celcius! Thats not going to happen during a day cycle over the summer period no matter what! Correct me if I m wrong but to my mind, humidity does not have to do with the grow stage of the plant but only with the temperature. We are saying that we need high values of RH when plants are small because we are trying to simulate the ultimate nature conditions possible. In nature you want to grow when whether is still hot and days are long in order to help the plants get big. As time goes by, day cycle shortens thus bringing temperatures lower. This is what triggers the flowering to the ladies!
Green_Dream
Green_Dream
@uTech420, Once u switch to 12/12, run the light cycle at night, that way you can balance things out... that is if you have a window of course... but I guess also in general. I wouldn’t worry of humility at 50... it’s more important to keep it low in bloom.
uTech420
uTech420
@Green_Dream, I was reading that is good to refresh the air once every minute. Based on that I have the vent running for a minute every second minute. There is also a hook that is temperature dependent. So if temperature goes above a max threshold then vent kicks in until temperature drops down again to the desired levels. The thing here is that if I leave vent constantly on, humidity levels drop low (around 50s). Then humidifier works overhours to compensate and the system never comes to balance. Having a vent cycle helps controlling the environment. At least this is what I can say from my logs so far :) Now the lights... Ambient temperature during the day is about 23-24 Celsius and as the summer is getting closer they are expected to rise... Right now, if I get down to 55-60cm then things start to get hot. I m getting temperatures of 30-32 Celsius at canopy level which does not feel right. I m expecting an air-conditioning to be installed in the room in the coming days as a precaution measure and also a second vent to be used for intake. Right now intake is passive. I hope that by switching to an active intake will improve my "cooling capabilities" and will be able to lower my lights! Any thoughts here are always welcome! πŸ‘

They’re looking great! I see they should be done after 56-60 days according to the breeder. You might wanna already switch to plain water as they look quite dark so they get enough time to use up all those extra nuts stored in the leaves and soil.
