This week is an important one! We transported these beauties to the outdoor plot. 5 the first time, and 4 on a second trip 2 days later. All in all, transfer went smoothly. We’ve put in plenty of hours getting that site prepared and sorted for them so it made transfer a lot easier. They all look great sitting in their new homes.
Before burying the pots, I gently removed the bottom of them - which isn’t necessary or needed but I wanted to give them the best chance for the roots to spread out and grow like crazy! The great thing is that the Pete pots will decompose anyway, allowing the roots the ability to pass through easier. They will grow through the pots if left long enough if they don’t decompose.
The site prep took a couple solid day’s, involving chopping a large dead branch off a tree, a lot of pruning back horrible spikey trees and branches and general ground amendments.
In the soil we used a 60L bio organic soil, with 10L (In total) Of coco coir, along with a good pouring of both bonemeal and fish, blood and bone. Chicken manure pellets poured in the bottom of each hole and topped off the soil with some extra too. Given them all a good feed of the nitrogen water to water them in with before we left.
The only major issue we had... trust me luck, was me accidentally stepping backwards half onto the mutant AK, splitting the pot and spilling the soil out. She was quickly held together with her soil as best as possible, and planted into the ground! What a bloomin’ disaster. Safe to say... I’m not expecting much from her. I’m keeping her running, as I’m curious to see what and how she’ll yield. I’ve read mutants can sometimes become more potent. Despite yielding less, which is expected, they’re said to develop more of a potency - or so I’ve read.... anyway, we’ll see!
