This is a super strain - love the taste - fruity and it does linger on the taste buds ... beautiful plant - especially as the purple comes through on branches and buds... which are dense and sticky.. she can stretch out and get tall ... showed good resilience against conditions, which were by no means optimal.

So - all good things must come to an end - however, not all endings are good. I have harvested, but not at the time I wanted, or rather, the time she would have been ready. As with all outdoor grows there are going to be challenges and problems, especially with the funky weather this year. I have posted some photos of the damage, I thought about just scrubbing the diary, but to be honest, I ended up coming to the conclusion that, as it was my first grow, letting the community see for themselves was the better option. Any comments or advice are welcome. To cut a very irritating story short, the last two weeks have not been ideal growing conditions, even running her in the greenhouse & outdoor. The sun may be free, but growing in nature has some harsh costs. I have been worried about the humidity levels at night, but having tried to just let things run without spending too much money, I have paid the ultimate price. During the last two weeks there has been a lot of rain, mixed in with some very hot days. This has caused two of the girls to get what I think is bud rot (I am running three strains - and yes one of my other girls has been struck down in the same manner (Barney's Farm Glue Gelato) and I am thinking only positive thoughts that the third (Barney's Farm ZkittleZ OG Auto) has managed to avoid getting hurt). As mentioned this is genuinely my first grow, and so even having done an enormous amount of research and having spent a huge amount of time with the girls, checking that everyone was happy and healthy, it seems that bud rot builds out of sight and the first sign of it means that some serious damage has already been done. I was taking some photos for the diaries and noticed that on one of the girls, her sugar leaf on the top cola looked as though it was changing color. On closer inspection it looked like about a quarter of the leaf was brown and wilted (see pics on Glue Gelato diary). I had read that if you pull on them and they come out without any effort, that is an issue and most probably bud rot. As I went around the top half of the plant it seemed that the issue had only really got to the top cola. Which was looking super ripe and had sugar everywhere. I was very reluctant to admit the truth and after another half an hour of detective work I had to face the painful fact that she had an issue. She had been smelling ridiculously delicious, but I did notice a slightly different aroma which had me rather concerned. Then I moved onto the Grizzly and noticed a slight wilting on two the top cola's sugar leaves. Nothing massive, but enough to get me even more frustrated. Now I don't know if I have done the right thing (comments & advice appreciated if anyone has a view on both the damage and my next course of action), but I just cut her down day 65 of a 80 day harvest target. Taking away the top cola, which had some small damage sites and then focused on trying to save as much of her possible. Her trichomes were a clear/cloudy mix and so I had assumed I would feed her one more time and then flush her until harvest, maybe 3 weeks at most if she had the energy/desire to run a little over. So close and yet so far from paradise, as Elvis once sang. I have not got any photos of the harvest to show what I managed to salvage, nor the horror show 'evidence' as I was still raging from having to cut down one of the other girls so close to the finish line. I will try to over coming days. I am absolutely gutted. She was a truly beautiful plant (starting to really show her purple and smelt wonderfully fruity) and was really starting to put on weight - but it seems that very few strains are able to deal with such extreme environments. The humidity was over 80 for last few nights and regardless of what I did to control the environment in the greenhouse (ventilation/heater to dry the air, watering early in the day - 7am) I could not get it down. It has been a problem for two weeks (there have been spells of very hot weather and the contrasting rainy days and moist nights have taken their toll... and I guess that time just played its part and que sera, sera. As mentioned above one of my other girls (a Barney's Farm Glue Gelato - see diary for pictures) got hit hard and I took extreme (panic) measures and just cut her down as well. She was 9 days into flush and although trichomes were still all cloudy, she was getting ripe and I was thinking she would be ready very soon. I guess the Grizzly Prurple Kush Auto would have put on much more weight with so much time left to run and I am concerned about what she will be like to smoke because she had not been flushed at all. I just thought that I needed to get them both out of the greenhouse and to try and save as much as possible. For a first ever grow I was obviously really hoping not to encounter any major issues (wow it has been a learning experience), and I have been salivating at the thought of finally getting to taste the girls, but I have been taken down just before the finish line. I will update this again to give a final number on weight etc and how she smokes... it will only be the dry weight, also note that she was 2-3 weeks from predicted harvest date. Therefore it will be minus a lot of the top cola and a little piece of another bud site, as I was in no mood to even contemplate calculating wet weight as I was cutting her down. It was emotional ;-) The next morning I bought a massive dehumidifier and then planted more seeds.
