So, coming on well this week, and, after lots more research, I've stopped the tomato feed and switched to a high nitrogen feed during this vegetative period. I also installed the other 3 prong LED lights so now each plant has its own light above it attached to a pully for height adjustment, and, thanks to the 3D printer once more, I created a custom bracket for the 4 cheap wish LED panels and am using them to provide some foliage lighting for the lower canopy once these start to need it, the last thing I did this week was to change to a 6/2/6/2/6/2 lighting schedule.
Watering schedule is once every 48 hours, at the beginning of the week it was about 1 litre per plant each watering, now towards the end of the week it's 2 litres and they're drinking it up. Am hoping that using the grow bags will keep the roots from being oxygen starved, and so far everything is looking healthy.
Now I'm undecided how long to leave it before starting the flowering phase, some guides seem to advise 8 weeks if grown from seed, others say a minimum of 3 weeks, either way, I'm definitely going to give them at least one more week and take it from there.
Current energy figures are 197.2W when lit, 3.55KW total per day, approx 108 KW per month or $20.30 per month to run. Have also just added up the cost of everything I've purchased so far in this experiment, and with the exception of soil and seeds, it's just under $500 in total for equipment.
Other random little factoids of the grow, no perlite, no coco-coir, nothing other than soil, initially some biodegradable grow pots for the seedlings before being moved to big boy pots, regular off the shelf feeds, no reverse-osmosis water etc, trying to keep things natural where possible (if you ignore the 6/2 light cycle and the fact they're being grown indoors in smart bags).
Update: it's the final day of week four, and the growth spurt these have displayed is astounding. I don't know if it's just the way they grow in general and this is normal or whether it's due to the change to the nitrogen rich feed, but I'm seriously going to have to look at some pruning options and decide how I want to progress.
1 more week for pure vegetative on a 6/2 light schedule, followed by a week of adjusting to a bloom schedule are the next steps.
@huntsolo, not so sure on the hi-tech! Mine is very much make-do and mend on a budget, so far everything with the exception of seeds and soil has come to just a few bucks under $500, that's including nutrients, pulleys, cables, lights etc...
@SirPsyche, your grove has just begun and its technical component is beautiful and you have excellent plants for four weeks)
I have a steampunk you have hi-tech)
Peace
@huntsolo, thanks! your current grow puts mine to shame, but this is my first time and I'm learning as I go, hopefully over time my setup will continue to get better 😀
