Goal was to grow organically and just make it to harvest. Popped seeds and planted them. Took about 1 week to get all the seeds ready. Since these were autos I dropped them right in the soil. I used two types of soil to gauge results 1. Detroit Nutrient Company:Water Only And 2. FFOF Cloth and smart pots were used (50-50).

Week 2 I simply watered only as is the plan until week 4, then soil dressing after that. FFOF is definitely hot I could see some early stress in my plants, but it turned out ok as you will see weeks into this grow.

Started exploding around week 3. Still watering for now. At this point I was scared to train which I know I will regretted weeks later but I was just focused on getting to harvest. Noob.

Added a table spoon of each nutrient and covered with a 2 inch layer of worm castings. I was considering this a trial light feeding. Just wanted to see how they reacted. Continued weekly feedings minus bat guano as it’s high in nitrogen and wanted to focus more so on the P and K in flower.

These really stretched well. With no training some were looking great, others would have benefited from it. Still learning as I go. Continued weekly feedings minus bat guano as it’s high in nitrogen and wanted to focus more so on the P and K in flower.

Began defoliating around this time to boost air flow and sunlight to bud sights. Seeing baby buds grow and smell like sweet heaven has been pleasure so far. Continued the same feeding schedule but doubled the nutrients to see how the plants would react. Updates coming soon.

How are the buds looking? Any advice on bulking them up aside from my normal feedings? Also lookin for any early feedback in quality.

light energy converted to chemical energy is what powers all growth. nutrients merely match the light you provide and things go well. So, if you can't add extra light, there's little you can do to increase bud size. Fret not! it's early, so don't focus on what they look like today or in daily increments. By day 35-40 of flower (photoperiod measurement, less in autos i'd assume, since people typically count it when you see preflowers, which .. ?!?! flowering likely started 7-14 days before that point) mileage may vary per strain.. general ballpark ideas here. try to look at pictures with at least 7 days between them. You'll see that fuzz stretch along stems a bit, then fill out more.. then start to ripen.

Buds are fattening. Michigan is very hot this week. I am running a small fan, spreading out my watering to keep things cool and moist. Smells great, most plants are at about 4 feet, with exception to 2 which were grown 2 weeks behind. Weekly feedings have been alfalfa, kelp, and bone meals. I started at 1 tbsp per plant after week 4 and have now moved to weekly feeding with 3 of each type for each plant. Plants are responding well, they are doing well in the heat, and for a beginner I am feeling good. Hoping for a successful harvest in a few weeks.

Some hot days in Michigan, it has cooled a bit since, the plants are holding up well. I have autos pushing almost 5 feet in height from their base stem, I am fine with it as I have plenty of head room, but for those growing in compact or stealth spaces this would really require some training. I regret not training but my main goal is and always will be just to complete a successful first grow. The fact the plants are looking so well for my first grow is promising for the future. A few weeks out, but hoping to see some colors popping out the next week.

Lots of growth this week. Colorful greens and oranges. No major issues to report. Started Langbeinite and Seabird Guano to boost P and K. Hoping to see the benefits come through in the next 2 weeks.

Happy Harvest Day!

I had one plant with bud rot, harvested about an ounce off of it. I still have few plants finishing out, but I have since harvested 4 plants in total. Pretty good for my first time. Some tips for newbs: 1. You know nothing, learn and continue to learn. 2. Read the plant and don’t focus so much on feeding and doing what someone told you they did. Growers deal with so much variation through a grow that there isn’t a one size fits all. 3. You can recover from issues like powdery mildew or bud rot, you much better vigilant and use tried and true methods. 4. Growing outdoors in Michigan is sucky at times. Too much variability in the weather, and overall very humid. 5. Have fun and appreciate every milestone, be lucky to throw a nug into a curing jar. You will not be an expert or grow the best stuff ever your first time, but that’s ok because if it’s good, then you are ahead of the curve.

Over dried a bit, but I quickly fixed my mistakes. I was drying with direct air flow. Never again. Luckily I have 6 more to harvest. In Michigan you can legally grow 12 plants per adult in a household. Next year I will grow double as my wife is an adult :)
