Seeds were placed about 1/4" deep in the soil, damped and then sedan wrap placed over top of the pot. Pot soil was moistened every other day until sprouted. Amnesia popped up in 3 days and white widow in 4. White widow had a bit of an issue with the seed shell not wanting to come off. This could be because it needed to be deeper in the soil. Both plants are getting a sprinkling of water every other day. Plan is to allow them to get a few sets of leaves before upgrading to a larger pot.

Plants have both been watered on a 2day schedule and are getting 18 hours of light a day. White widow is doing pretty good as far as I'm aware. Growth has slowed, but still growing. Amnesia is giving me some problems. Growth has slowed down tremendously and the initial leaves have started to crisp up. I tried moving the plant to a larger, but still rather small, pot. I also flushed the plant as I think some of the pre-added nutrients in the soil have been detrimental to the growth. As of today, I have moved the plant outside for higher temperature and stronger natural light. My last attempt at an outdoor grow was thwarted when I left outside over night and the seedlings were eaten by some critter. This time around, I have created a makeshift fence around the plant with skewers and plan on bring the plant inside over night.

Unfortunately lost the amnesia plant. Just didn't rebound after whatever happened to it. White widow is doing great. Really started to pop off and have been noticing more and more veg growth every day. White widow was transplanted to a larger pot where I'm expecting it to stay for 3-4 weeks before I move it to its final large pot.

I was gone over the weekend and this plant exploded in the time I was gone. Leaves and new growth nodes popping up all over the place. I was hoping to get a few more weeks in this smaller pot before moving to the final large pot but I might have to expedite. I wanted this plant to have a decent amount of growth before I move to finish outside. I will be starting LST this week as well.

Crazy week. Feel like every day I'm finicking with this plant a little bit. Been working on LST on a few of the flowering stems and been really working on the main stem to keep it relatively low and prevent it from growing vertically. The plant was also moved to it's largest and final pot. The previous green pot had the plant rapidly becoming root bound after only like a week. I have also been snipping some large fan leaves very sparingly. Cut 2 so far but I feel like I might have to bump that number up as the plant starts to stretch out with the LST under the lights. I have also supercropped a few stems to help them stay low and branch away from the main plant mass. A few of these techniques I did and then realized that maybe it wasn't the best idea for an autoflower but it seems to be rebounding extremely fast from the training. I am out of town for a week and have my neighbours watering my plants so I'm excited for the progress when I return. Depending how the plant has progressed over the week I anticipate I will move it outside for the final stages of its growth. If my outdoor tomato and pepper plants are any indicator on growing conditions it should do great, but I will need to do some preventative measures to discourage squirrels from digging in the pot.

For an outdoor grow, what would you recommend to discourage squirrels and other pests?

Hello Prevention is your best and safest way. Prevent them from even getting to your stuff. A cheap chicken wire will prevent the animals from getting too close. Or they sell deer wire that 6 to 8 foot tall. They can have anything that grow outside the wire. Everybody's happy. Good Luck. Chuck.

I came home after being gone for a week and the plant was growing right into the light. There wasn't a whole lot of room between the plant canopy and the lights to begin with, but the gap had been closed in a week which means it's time to move outdoors! Some of the leaves had been burned due to their proximity to the light so I trimmed most of those leaves away along with some other larger leaves to thin out the plant. The supercropping nodes have healed up nicely and very quickly. I regret worrying that the supercropping would stunt my yield because it's looking like the opposite. The LST restraints are still in place and I will leave there until harvest. I'm excited to see how this plant does outside. In the area it is on my back deck it should get at least 10+ hours of light a day unless it's cloudy or rains. It has also been quite hot recently so I think the extra heat and humidity will help this grow finish up.

When (if ever) should I thin out the fan leaves? It's my understanding that removing the majority of the fan leaves will help direct growth towards the buds, but I don't want to do this process too early. The plant is currently outside and in its 7th week of growth.

Defoliate to: Remove dying leaves Remove leaves not getting any light Increase airflow for mold protection To give more light to buds Outside, you dont have to worry about light problems much except at the very bottom of the plant, but if removing one fan leaf will open up an entire bud site, go ahead. Never remove more than 1/3 of your fan leaves at once and remember that the more you can keep, the better off she is.

Some of the fan leaves are curling up at the tips. Not all of the leaves just a few and only at the longest petal. Is this something I should be concerned about?

I would be concerned but not in a desperate hurry to try and treating it. Just run through the basics: pH, EC, and temperature. Not much you can do about the last one outdoors, but make sure the other two are good and you will probably see this stop spreading.

Missed a few weeks but this plant has been going strong and steady. No drastic changes to the growth or buds. I have trimmed back some fan leaves two times in the past 3 weeks to get more air circulation and light. The weather recently has been pretty similar to early fall weather and it's not the best growing conditions but the plant still looks healthy. I think another week or two and I should be good to harvest.

Finally harvested. I'm pretty sure I harvested at the right time. The trichomes looked pretty milky as best as I could tell. Still a few immature buds but that's okay. I was really happy with how easy this was all things considered. Didn't use any nutrients or anything special, only growing techniques to amplify the yield. I wish I had been more aggressive with LST as it would have given me a few larger bud sites. All in all it was an easy first grow. Super fun and can't wait for it to dry and cure so I can try it out! Cheers!
