Just got these mass medical seeds in the mail and immediately tossed them in some RO water. Excited to hopefully find some good indigo child males that I can grab some pollen from. Support your local breeders!
Seeds started coming out of soil July 23. Day 1 seedling
They're going!
Germination rate
Medi 3/3: 100%
Indigo child 6/8: 75% (one immature seed)
Looking at the seed pack for the indigo child I wish there was a little better qc on the seeds. Out of 13 I have 3 immature seeds (noticeably smaller and green compared to large dark brown of the other 10). One of which I tried to pop and to no success. I might have just been unlucky as my previous purchases from mass medical have been 100%. That's life sometimes. The seeds that did pop are looking really nice. One was a little slow to start but it seems to be doing okay now. Long journey ahead. Fingers crossed for a special female.
Plants are healthy and doing well. The medi plants are noticeably bigger. Both plants are at the same # node.
Update day 17: plants are doing well. I gave them their own 2x2 to hangout in.
The medi are now one node ahead of the indigo child. Topping the plants to the 3rd node in roughly a week.
The indigo children have a really interesting mutation on their first leaves after the topping. It's cool that they all have it.
The medi!!!! They're growing so fast. The medi #1 at the top right is flying. Easily the most aggressive plant I've ever grown. In the one gallon it has a fat main stalk. Shows very strong root growth. I'm really hoping some good flower off her....

Started flowering. Fed them worm castings mixed with kelp meal, cocoa nibs, and stump power (like recharge without powdered molasses and some extra variety of rooting hormones). Covered in soil and watered heavily. Will be covering in cover crop and bark soon to keep moisture in.
Big week of defoliation. Added another level of scrog as well to prevent the plants growing into the light.
The medipak are sativas and are stretching like crazy. Medipak #2 in the middle back is looking like an indica with much larger fan leaves and thicker stems. Less stretch compared to medi pak #1 and #3 which are growing like crazy. #3 is gonna be a real heavy yielder...stacked!
Smelling of spices and hash
The indigo child are stretching much less and are a little slower in flower development. Very similar to the putang I grew previously. Usually slow to start but will pick up steam and fatten up in the last few weeks.
Smells like orange soda mixed with grape candy. Has a little sour pine sol finish. Almost identical to the putang. Still one of my favs.
Edit day 17. Not great but my setup lost power most of the day. It probably got into the low 50's in my tent, maybe less. I'm sure I'm gonna see some temp shock from that.
Sure enough when I looked at the leaves they were a little curled. We shall see what happens. They're big plants so I'm sure they'll bounce back. Maybe lose a few days of stretch...
Update day 19: Plants are recovering nicely. Starting to see some frost. Temps are back in check now as well.
Update day 20: temps are good.
Day 21 and we got temps back in check. Last week had a few cold nights since we were having power issues and I could only keep the lights operational. Definitely got a little shock from it. The plants are growing at a solid pace again and the leaves are looking happy.
Starting to see some serious resin showing on the indigo childs. Nugs at the top are about the size of a golf ball. It's looking like indigo #3 and #4 will be keepers as I was looking for a purple/pink female. Smelling of orange fanta and grape candy
The medipak are some of the purest sativas I've ever grown. Never seed a bud structure like this before. Really classic sativa with long bud and lots of thin fan leaves. Smells like minty spices. Medipak #2 is looking more indica than the other two with thicker leaves and stockier buds. Medipak #3 is a super high yielder with a strong sativa phenotype. Will probably both be keepers till I try them and pick a fav based on smoke test.
Things are growing. Temps and humidity have been good. Medipak number 2 is still recovering from last week's cold night. Some damaged top leaves but all the undergrowth seems to be turning green so I'm hopeful for a recovery. I'll just defoliate all the damaged leaves near harvest.
The indigo childs and medi #1 and #3 are all looking really good.
Lost medipak#2. Just suddenly kicked the bucket. Oh well. Such is life! It might have been a fungus issue...The other 2 medipak are cruising. The 4 indigo childs are looking really nice. Very excited to see what they look like in 3 weeks
Smoke 2 joints in the morning....smoke 2 joints at night....smoke 2 joints in the afternoon.....my plants are growing alright. Another easy week. I love organic growing 💗
One of the indigo childs is starting to fade out
Another boring week in flower. One of the indigo childs is fading to yellow. Checked the trichomes and I'm starting to see some ambers. Will probably wait till 7.5 week. The rest of the indigos will probably go 8-8.5 weeks.
The medipak needs a lot more time. Not a resinous as I would have liked to see at this point. But I have a feeling that it might be my fault with not providing them proper environment for a sativa. I also suspect there might have been a fungal issue from the medipak tent as one suddenly died. Classic fusarium. We shall see with the others.
Will update once the bud is dried and cured. ~6 weeks.
I'm a strong believer in 5 week cures. 4 is just not enough for me. 5 is when a noticeable difference is smoothness occurs for my preference
Will update with smoke report after drying and cure.
Overall this strain was very easy to grow. Had some crazy lateral branching that needed a lot of pruning before flipping. I got 4 distinct phenotypes. 3 of them had some pinks and purples in them and finished in 8 weeks on the dot. The all green phenotype probably needs another 10 days. There was two I kept back from flower. Will be adding them to the anaphylaxis grow
The smell I would describe as overripe fruit with a strong artificial grape undertone. The more purple the strain the more grape I detect. The green phenotype smells very distinct with a stronger pine flavor. Will update once harvested.
They look really fantastic!! Sounds like you are in for a treat! I tried the Star Pupil and its amazing so I've started up some Putang. Hoping for results near yours - Good Luck!!
@avid_grow, I grew a bunch of putangs during the 2020 outdoor season. Wow! They all came out so different but all very special. Good luck with your grow, I'm sure you will do great
