20200815: I haven’t water her in 12 days. She’s still going strong. Looking really good. I might get some spininosa and preemptive spray since I had such a difficult run with caterpillars last go.
20200819: started spraying for bugs. Leaves looks minor thrip evidence.
20200905: heat wave this week. Forecast 110 tomorrow. I may put her in the shade tomorrow.
20200907: heat has been over 110 for two days. Leaves crisp up on the larger fans leaves. Put in shade today.
20200919: the heat has calmed down this week. She still doing very well. I fimmed the tops of each cola today to experiment with a technique called back building. Theory is it fattens up buds and makes for better bag appeal. We shall see.
Another week with 100 degree days and hazardous air.
I'm noticing an explosion of new hairs. This is my second grow so I've never seen this. I'm assuming it's some final push but have no idea what to expect in swell. No idea how long it will last. As of Friday, pistals still white. Trichomes starting to cloud. I notice the new hairs having 8 new hairs at a time which means thry still have to grow into a clump of calyxes.
Proper feeding is so important. My first crop didn't swell. Underfed and stressed environmentally near the end.
This plant has not been trained in anyway. This is her natural shape. Minus the bud swell topping to the 4 week old buds. I positively see that without this done the buds would be more pointed. The new growth seems like foxtails so genetic or heat stress? Either way still a thing of beauty.
The full plant picture has an optical illusion. It's really on a table. So the fence in the background makes it look like it's 5 feet tall.
20201006. Spidermites and thrips in a small section on top section of main cola. Sprayed with fresh spinosad. Look already dead or not moving. I also discovered that spinosad batch only is good for one application. I've been using old spinosad which wasn't offering protection.
I did do some very light lst to open up the middle canapy a bit. Buds 8 weeks in but still mostly white pistils. Breeders say 8 weeks but I think they are always 2 weeks optimistic.
10/3: found a single nanner on my main cola today. Will keep eye out for more. Was in an area where bugs were. Perhaps stress induced.
I do not have spider mites. I do have aphids. Little spots here and there. I'm using tape rolled around a chopstick to pull what I can up to slow it down.
Buds are much denser than I thought. Squeezed main cola. Sticky stinky fingers. Can't wait. Hoping for a quarter pound.
It’s always traumatic, but i do it on autos and regular when needed.
Only take care to the branches you have cut they easily get molds dying on the plant
I'm currently drying/curing my last harvest. Just finished the dry. When I burp the container the whole room smells like dank skunky weed but if I put the bud to my nose it really has a mild smell nothing like the smell that permeates the room. Has anyone experienced this?
Full aroma develops over the length of the curing process (assuming they were dried properly). The smell is there, it just needs time to mature like good wine or cheese. Happy growing.
