Didn't take any pictures during the first 2 weeks. Moved to DWC on day 3 from sprouting, with General Hydroponics Rapid Start rooting hormone (30 drops in 6L water). Cabinet is 18" deep, 36" wide, and 63" tall. It has 3 chambers. 1) Filter/Electronics Chamber - 11" high. Contains 4" 190CFM Fan with Carbon Filter, All electronics/pumps/timers. 2) Flower Chamber - 36" high, 2x 300W (~125W-140W actual) Mars Hydro = 250-280 True Watts. 38L reservoir (24" space between top of Res and bottom of Lights) 3) Veg/Clone chamber - 16" high, 4x 21Watt 3' T5 Fluorescents. 11L reservoir. This is my first time growing using both chambers, with hopes to create a perpetual grow using clones each round.

Started Nutrients around 1/2 strength. Added 12.5ml of each to 6L of water. Instead of buying Grow A/B and Flower A/B, I went with Grow A (5-0-2) and Flower B (1-4-8) only. Didn't bother with Grow B (1-5-8), or Flower A (6-0-3).

topped again for 8 mains. moved to larger resevoir (10gal/38L). leaf problems after 2 days in new chamber. Temps are much higher than bottom chamber (22c vs 29c). not entirely sure what's going on - roots seem fine, and she's drinking lots of water.

Been throwing some frozen water bottles into the reservoir 2-3x a day to keep res temps around 19-20c. Also rotating a jug of ice twice a day to increase humidity a bit and keep cab temps down a bit. Seems to keep the temps in there about 2.5c lower than without the ice jug in there. Leaf problems have stopped. I think it was due to PH fluctuations. Last week of Veg before i Flip. Going to train first nodes of each main top through the screen, and keep all other nodes trimmed. Plan right now is to let the 8 mains grow up, with 2 branches from each node Scrogged until week 2 of flower.

Flipped to 12/12 Jan 28th. Before light's out, I changed the res (22L of water), 60ml Grow A, 60ml Flower B, 20ml Superman B1, 2.5tsp of SubCulture B. Jan 30th the PH went from 5.8 to 3.6 overnight, res water was really cloudy. Re-read directions of SubCulture, and realised i put in 5x what I was supposed to. Did full res change, omitting Subculture this time (figure there's probably still some left in the roots?). Jan 31st - Everything looks good! PH went up to 6.0, but nothing major. No visible signs of stress.

Week 2 of 12/12 - left out the subculture B this week. Showed pistils on day 60. Unsure whether to tuck again, or let stretch now... there's still 16" to the lights, so I'm thinking the stretch won't be that high with about 12 days left? 14f - Decided not to tuck again and let them stretch a bit. All week i removed the odd small branches that were too far under the canopy, as well as fan leaves here and there.

Things are progressing nicely. Tops are stretching about .5-1" per day. Day 69 (17F) - Defoliated most growth under the net, and about 1/3 of the fan leaves (the ones blocking bud sites)

Stretch seems to have stopped. She's looking healthy, and buds are starting to grow significantly. She's also drinking about 2-3L per day now. Day 73 - 21F - Added SubCulture B (1/2tsp in 23L res) Day 75 - 23F - PH is up to 7.1. I adjusted it back down to 5.8, but 5 hours later it was back up to 6.5. Going to monitor it but might do a full res change again. Until I added SubCulture, the PH was always steady at 5.8 with very little adjusting required. Last time i added SubCulture (way too much by mistake) the PH fluctuated by ~2!!! Day 76 - 24F - PH was 6.4 after light's back on, so I think the SubCulture just had to balance itself. PHd back to 5.8, so I'll see if it evens out or jumps back up. Day 77 - 25F - PH back to normal after light's back on (5.9). Day 80 - 28F - Res Change - 20L of water, 37.5ml A/B, 20ml Superman B1, 20ml CalMag. Not using SubCulture B

Day 81 - 29F - PH was 6.4 the morning after Res change. Didn't add SubCulture B this time, so might be from bacteria left in roots during res change? Days 82-85 - PH was 5.5 every morning, which i adjusted to 5.9. 8 hours later PH was 5.5 again, re-adjusted to 5.9. No idea what's going on. Days 86-87 - PH still super low. Went out of town and had someone adjust PH for me, which was around 5.0-5.1 every day, adjusted to 5.6-5.7.

Day 88-89 - PH still out of whack. Did a Res change, and still having the same PH problem. It drops hourly. PPMs now around 700. I added 1/4tsp of SubCulture B with the res change this time. Day 90 - 38F - Added a second air pump to Res. Both airstones were engulfed by roots, so i moved one into a more open area, and the second pump doubled the bubbles and the res is now moving much more. Day 91 - 39F - PH was back to normal! (5.9). Hoping it was the lack of oxygen.. Day 92 - 40F - PH was still 5.9. Seems like everything is back to normal. Day 94 - 42F - Changed Res/Nutes.

Just about done. Trichs 20-25% clear, 5% amber, 70% cloudy. Harvested half of the plant because I'm trying to zero-in on a nice uplifting high, and as little couch-lock/stoned as possible. Using a partial harvest as an experiment since I'm growing clones in a perpetual harvest, and want to know when the perfect time to harvest will be for my needs. The 2nd half will be harvested in 8-10 days, depending on trich progress. I realise the first half was harvested early, according to most opinions/preferences, but like I said, i'm using this as an experiment, and am happy with a small yield/thc sacrifice for my purposes.

Happy Harvest Day!

For a first grow, this couldn't have been any easier. Training was a breeze, and aside from some DWC PH issues here and there, it was easy peasy. First half of harvest (57F) is really heady high, with almost no stoned/couch-lock. I harvested with about 25-30% clear trichomes (i know it was way early), and about 5% amber. I wanted as little couch lock as possible. The second harvest (67F) is much more well rounded (10% clear, 15% amber). Stoned, but not couch-lock, munchies like crazy, but all in all, keeps me motivated to be productive. This will be my new go-to in terms of flower time for this pheno - excited to only improve with the clones!

Looks lovely - nice canopy , nice colour - some of the leaves fall off to let light to the under buds , don't be scared to remove them 👍

@thephalanx420, my roots grow over the air stones , I think if the stones get blocked you get issues , I use the big disc air stones now , flat and round , they sit at the bottom better and give a more uniform bubble spread 👍
thephalanx420
thephalanx420commented8 years ago
@BigDaddyK, Agreed! This being my first run, I plan on doing the same.. took some clones a couple months ago, which i'm vegging in the bottom section of my cabinet until the mother is done on top, then i'll take more clones from the clones (hah), move them to flower chamber, and do 2 at a time as well every 8-10 weeks. I won't even come close to 400g, but hopefully once I get everything tuned in, I'm hoping to pull around 300g (~1g/W). What's strange is that my PH has been absolutely great until a week ago. It's always consistently 5.8, and almost never needs adjusting. I change my Res every week, and have never had a problem, which is why I'm thinking the issues were being caused by lack of oxygen (roots recently took over the air stones).

@thephalanx420, personally I think it's the variety some just don't go as well in Dwc as others in soil it's weird - I stick to fast buds for auto s but I may try some Mephisto genetics as they look promising- I grow 2 plants at a time I have no issues with humidity up to 400g a crop every 8-10 weeks - I never have to go to a dispensary 👍 And personally I like to know what went into my weed 😏

Hey what is it smelling like as of now
thephalanx420
thephalanx420commented8 years ago
@Geefck, the smell isn't strong yet at all - i get a bit of sweetness/citrus when I'm up close, and almost no skunk smell at all. From what I've read about this strain, smell should continue to stay fairly low-key until later in flower.

Bro, @28C you will get pile of troubles later in the flowering. Res temps can't be below 15C and over 21C ever, because over that temps O2 does not dissolve in water well anymore and roots of plant are starting to suffocate there, causing lots of root troubles. Anaerobic bacteria and fungi are thriving in that conditions. Buy water chiller, you will not regret that. Any will do, just make sure that it has enough power to do it's job (by size of your tanks). You can also make DIY one, of Peltier elements. Just google that, you will find plenty of info about that. Good luck!
thephalanx420
thephalanx420commented8 years ago
@HolyTHC, thanks for the advice! I'll throw some frozen water bottles in the res for now until i decide on a more permanent plan.
kunkgrow
kunkgrowcommentedweek 78 years ago
nice manifolding! have your sorted the leaf issues?
thephalanx420
thephalanx420commented8 years ago
@kunkgrow, I believe so. It was likely just stress caused by changing the reservoir to a 38L, and adding more nutrients, and sudden light/temp changes. After i trimmed off those ugly leaves, the rest have been growing well and don't seem to be having any more problems.

deletedcommentedweek 78 years ago
Bro, doesn't bottom lights warm tea in top tank? Just i see no chillers, etc, that's why i say. Just be sure that tea temps are below 20, that's very important. Sorry if i am telling you what you already know, man. Good luck!
thephalanx420
thephalanx420commented8 years ago
@HolyTHC, res temp is about 2 degrees cooler than the air temperature. I don't have a chiller - how critical is it to keep temps that low? I mean, i get that it's ideal to have them lower, but what's the impact of having a res around 28C? I could always throw some ice cubes in there a couple times a day, and change the light cycle to 18/6 instead of 24/0.
