First week with Sweet Seeds Dark Devil Auto!
This is a stain that I received as a freebie, but make no mistake. I'm excited to be testing this, and looking forward to the results!
Dark Devil Auto is a cross by sweet seeds using their BIG DEVIL XL auto and crossing it with a Pakistani Hindu Kush.
More about the genealogy can be found here: https://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Dark_Devil_Auto/Sweet_Seeds/
A couple of things right off the bat.
This is a micro grow. Grow space is 2x2, and holding 4 of my plants.
I'm growing in a .5 gallon square pot
Medium is Coco/Perlite
High frequency fertigation - GHE 3 part lineup.
Growing under HLG 100 light pulling 100 watts at the wall.
First weeks feed calculates to 1 galllon of ~800 EC seedling feed. I pour half of this solution out into another container. I then fill the rest of the gallon up with water to reduce the EC to roughly 400.
Second week growth continued as expected. The diary on here was an after thought, and unfortunately there are
not a lot of pictures showing week two. No worries though, going forward there should be a good amount of pictures
in the following weeks.
Increased the feed and added silica to the mix.
Week 3.
Lilith is growing as expected for her age. The vigor she's displaying is good for sure!
As another reminder this grow is in a .5 gallon pot so I'm not expecting her to get very big, but I'm not treating her
any different than the one gallons I usually do. So I'm hopeful that even in a .5 gallon she meets my expectations.
At the end of week 3 I decided I'd start to do a little LST. I like to start my training out in week two and three when the
stalks are still relatively pliable. My favorite method when plants are younger is using a 6 inch steel garden stake and just
sliding the stake over the top of the main cola. I attached a couple of pictures of this. You can also see that just doing that
opens the plant up and exposes several tops of air/light. The goal is to get all of these branches to be the same height.
At any rate feed is going up tomorrow, and I expect Lilith to continue her vigor and start her transition to flower as there's
a small amount of visible preflower.
Until next time! Have a good one and continue overgrowing the world!

Alright lots of pics this week.. So update leading up to 4 weeks..
At the end of last week I put a garden stake into the soil and tied the top cola to it. Gently bending the plant over.
The side chutes have all exploded and with just bending the one cola over I was able to increase my cola count
and create a much wider canopy. I'm convinced this will lead to better yields in the end.
The plant has been extremely easy to grow so far, very vigorous and exceeding my expectations so far in this half
gallon pot.
In just a week the plant has grown a ton, and it's flowers have started to fill in. There's beautiful purple hues already and the flowers are still very early
in development.. So I'm sure they'll be very vibrant as the flowers progress.
All in all I'm satisfied so far and looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Dark devil is proving to be a quick, and easy to grow auto.. and hopefully
one that yields good as well!
Had a rough week this week, accompanied by many problems and I had a tough time trying to figure it out.
A couple of things I switched to this grow. Brand of CoCo (pith, very fine) and I swapped from 1-gallon cloth pots to
half-gallon plastic square pots. I need to adjust my watering and plant care habits to accommodate these changes.
Treating my plants in the same way as I did in the 1-gallon cloth pots is just not going to work.
This week I was noticing that my plant was not really drinking very much, and also on top of that, she was a few types of deficiencies.
I check my run off ph and everything is in range, on top of that my res/feed ph was on point... So I go to calibrate my meter and am getting
an error. I believe my meter is out of wack, and ph has slowly drifted to the point of lockout...
I ordered a new meter, it gets here over the weekend. I hope that I am able to correct and dial in any issues once I get the meter. All in all
the plants are still developing, but they just are not as pretty as I'd like especially for having a journal.
Buds are coming in nice though, they are very dank, very purple and nice and oily! They also have a unique smell to them to me they smell
like ripe mango. Looking forward to the smoke.
Alright so I got a new meter! Let me tell you, my previous meter was way off!
I decided not to go cheap and ended up buying a decent meter buy Apera.
All in all very happy with the meter.
In this week our lady is starting to stack, but I'm still running into issues. These include
her not drinking going way too many days without drying out. As well as Yellowing
climbing up the plant & a host of other deficiency signs.
I've pulled her out of the 1/2 gal plastic pot to check out the roots, as well as another
plant experiencing similar issues.. and they're definitely having issues with these pots
in that they just aren't draining well enough and some roots are sitting in water and
causing issues.. The solution is going to have to be a new home for the feet. Back
to a felt 1 gal to finish her off in flowering.
She smells great though, very candy like.. reminds me of skittles.. which progressed from
a rotten tropical fruit smell.. loving it real resinous
Another week.. This time she's in a new home back to my roots with felt pots..
Went with the 1 gallon to keep things under control in the 2x2 space as she
is sharing a tent with 3 other plants at this point.
In these pics you can sorta see the progression of yellowing that I was experiencing
in the plastic pots which provided horrendous drainage. This ultimately led to the
decision to give her a new home.
Other than that though she's doing good. Very frosty, and bulking up nicely..
Took a couple of Macro shots here that are sure to please. :) Deep dark purples very beautiful.
Another week. Since she was transplanted to the felt pot things have improved greatly.
Lilith is drinking again, and really stacking. I can't emphasize enough how good this lady
smells. Seriously just like skittles to me straight candy.
I've removed the dead leaves and although there aren't many full plant pics here you
can definitely tell that the buds are looking awesome. I played around a little bit with
the backdrop as well. I'd love to get better at these photos..
I'm happy with how things are going and I don't see her going on that much longer maybe a 2-3
more weeks.
Alright here we go week 9 since germination. She's close guys.. real close maybe another week
possibly two..
She's really packing on the resin and stacking into some nice sized buds. My impression is that this
plant is very resilient. There were a lot of issues with this grow, and in the end she still put out some
beautiful buds covered in trichomes.
She still smells like sweet candy, and when I tell you I'm anxious to get a taste that's an understatement.
I know there's a lot of very similar almost the same pics throughout this week, but I had fun taking them
so hopefully you guys enjoying looking at them.
Started another plant in my 2x2 today so that makes 5 meaning I'm looking forward to the chop to free up
some space haha.
Special thanks to Sweet Seeds for this strain and allowing me to grow it out to showcase it on Growdiaries.
I will grow this girl again.
Alright, so this is the second to last week before the chop.
So this week is pretty much just dedicated to ripening and making sure
that the buds finish off nice and dense :)
I'm getting impatient, but won't rush. One more week.
This week is the week. Going to chop "Lilith" towards the end of the week.
She's been on just plain water just to finish everything off clean.
In the last week she's finished up ripening and is looking great. The wait
is almost over. Looking forward to chopping drying and finishing off the diary.
As far as smell is concerned it's still a very sweet, tropical, candy type smell.
Super good smelling, on top of that she's very sticky. The buds are decently sized
and relatively dense but not like rock hard dense.
This grow has been very interesting for me, I had my share of problems.. but
in the end I can say I'm satisfied with how she turned out.
Would definitely recommend to those who are on the fence about trying this strain.
Sweet Seeds delivers exactly what they advertise :)
Alright, all things considered I'm happy with the harvest for Dark Devil.
I did run into a couple of issues during the grow. I was trying out a new coco blend.. coco pith which I do
not recommend. I feel this combined with switching to square plastic half gallon pots (to grow small plants) I
was running into water logging issues and plants wanting to stunt out.
This combined with a faulty Ph meter and I struggled for a portion of the grow. I eventually transplanted
the Dark Devil plant to a felt 1 gallon pot, and she was able to ride out her lifespan and produce a nice
little yield.
Until next time..
