Sometimes, ... its worth waiting for. This is Aurora Indica by Nirvana. Aurora Indica is Afghani x Northern Lights. I took this as a regular clone off of my Aurora Indica 2020 (I & II) outdoor grow, or off my indoor clone grow, not sure as I forget. What I can guarantee is that it is Phenotype A, a tall growing beauty that seems to produce pink pistils outdoors. It also gets a small leaf curl or whorl when given too much nitrogen. Just a wonderful, intoxicating sweet, dank smell.
I spent my initial Aurora Indica clones on an indoor grow (ongoing on Growdiaries), and then had an extremely long bout of non success cloning. Amongst my errors: leaving the heat pad on in summer during a heat wave. I was remarking that even my basement was hot, and I totally forgot about that fact. Many healthy looking twigs revealing no roots. This plant was one of the best and revealed the problem. It was early in the bad luck discovery so I transplanted into soil and put it in my main tent. It did not like that at all, too much light for a non rooted or barely rooted clone. I put it under the shade canopy of the jungles I have been keeping for two months. At times I forgot about it. It has had high points, showing me signs of life, and low points, just being static, or responding poorly to dilute nutrients to try to help things. At one point I thought I could sit on the slow growth and use it in my upcoming breeding program ... but no, it appears like it has decided to grow. I have no root photos, and its been in HP Pro Mix forever, but its time to transplant into a new container sometime this week. I just can’t hold it back!
My tent is hung mylar in an unfinished basement. My lights are two 300 actual watt full spectrum LEDs.
What else is there to say? Lets get on with it!
Day 69 for this Aurora Indica clone. A reminder of early misplays by me and then time recovering and eventually rooting. I would also point out this is what I call Phenotype A, which seems to put on a good outdoor show (see other diary). I transplanted this week into HP Pro Mix, a small amount of worm castings and perlite, Myke Flower mycorrhizae and 4-4-4 All Purpose Gaia Green soil amendment. I also prevent treated for pests last night spraying potassium based insecticide soap and neem oil. I did tie it down, LST, as it was quickly gaining height. You can see how simple my tie method has regressed to. 80 something diaries, what can I say hehehe 🐒 next crop.
Day 76 for this Aurora Indica clone. I had tied it last week, it has adjusted, and is slowly growing. Once I get a bit more length in the main stalk I’ll top and even out the canopy. No big changes this week in terms of the plant. I did get a heat pump and so even though the air conditioning isn’t being used now at this time in the season I do have the centralized fan circulating the air through the system.
Day 83 for this surprisingly old Aurora Indica clone (my discovered phenotype). No changes in terms of container, just continuing to grow with a transplant somewhere down the line. I topped the main crown and now have a nice canopy.
My inlaws are computer programmers, non-stoners, but gifted me some basic sensing technology for fun using basic, cheap tech including Raspberry Pi. I have the ability to play with sensing particles of particular sizes or temperature and humidity which I have included graphs of. I can also upgrade to CO and CO2 if I wish as my friend is handy too. Displaying both yesterday and part of today, you can see where I irrigated last night. Are you surprised by how high-tech. this is for this monkey? 🐒
Day 90 for the Aurora Indica Phenotype A clone. This one became a forgotten soul this week as I lost track of my chores, it needed a transplant! I was seeing yellowing and only got around to a new container last night. It will take a few days for it to start churning and aborbing the soil nutes. My mix was HP Pro Mix with a small amount of added perlite and worm castings, 4-4-4 Gaia Green All Purpose, and Myke Flower mycorrhizae. I gave my only other source of these genetics to Hellishjam, so I will have to be sure to clone! I also harvested its outdoor mother this past weekend! Temperature and humidity data is from yesterday and part of today.
Day 97 for the Aurora Indica Phenotype A clone. It has absorbed plant food, stabilized, and is a much healthier green. I’ve cloned and cleaned up the canopy. Stout, small, but looking good. I will be topping as needed to control growth and limit height.
Day 104 for the Aurora Indica Phenotype A clone. I have been giving out large containers of its parent. This one is looking healthy and ready for flower in one week. I have had to top but it is really an ideal size. I will likely top up the nitrogen as we get into it. I prevent treated for pests, just to stay ahead of the game, using Safer’s potassium based soap and neem oil. My server seems to be down so I don’t have the digital temp./humidity but it greatly ranges above and below canopy. At light level the tent is 25-28 degrees Celsius, and only 20C at root level. This will continue to change as winter nears and my furnace runs more. Perfect Halloween timing, a ghost flew in front of the camera on the first picture 👻.
Day 110 for the Aurora Indica clone. The time has come for flowering so I got everyone up nice and early via alarm and prevent treated for pests using Safer’s potassium based soap and neem oil. They went into the HPS tent afterwards. After 12 hours of dark it was time for photos. Applied a bit of water immediately following as she was thirsty. Next week will be the first flower update! Falling asleep at the moment thanks to too many bowls of her mother and aunt.
