Helping a friend with his first grow. Starting with 8 Royal Gorilla's with idea of removing 2 weakest. I would just do 1 under each 600W lamp but lets see if we get to cramped. In 1.6m by 2m tent, 2 x 600w HPS.
Started under 4 x 24w T5 lightwave
Keep checking in ... Updates coming soon!
Transplanted into 3L pots. Gold Leaf Coco/Claypebble mix, added 20% Perlite.
Current Feed 0.95 EC, 5.8pH - Silicon, Rhizotonic, Canna a&b
UPDATE:/ Day 13
Tested the run off. Fed each 600ml-1000ml @ 0.95 EC 5.8ph. All hovering around 1.05 - 1.13 EC so a little high. Could reduce this down slightly. Tested ph of run off coming out 1 point higher at 6.8 but not worried. The coco was watered through before potting and they're not drinking enough yet to be concerned about the pots drying out too fast so I believe ph is fine. Updates soon!
Mostly Growing Strong! One is certainly beyond the rest and one is very much lagging behind due to 1 leaf set dying. Mate touch it with ph down and it ceased to live. Probs be chucking this one out so he's using others run off to feed it for time being save some money ;)
Still feeding about 1L per day @ 0.95 EC, 5.8ph. - Run off coming out at exactly 1.0 ec so I think we pretty much bang on feed wise for the moment.
Start of week 4. Time to upgrade the light soon I think to a Metal Halide. (if mates buys one lol) Trying to get him set up drippers also so they are fed little and often as opposed to all at once.
Topped the one which is lagging behind. Probably wait for the 5th node to top and fim the rest
Keep you updated!
Day 23 UPDATE:// Topped some, Fimmed some!.. left 1.
Day 27 UPDATE:// Not sure I fimmed enough lol.
Obviously moved on up to the Sol Digital metal halide 600W currently switched down to 400W. No need to connect the hood up, temps fine for now. Also started putting together the automated dripper system which will save alot of effort and time which can be better spent tending ;) Also they will love being fed 2-3 times a day
Day 28 UPDATE:// Still not sure on the fim but its doing something so I'm interested to see what happens. Carbon has been switched on so temps dropping slightly. Something to keep in mind.
Day 30:
Started bending a few over to open them up. Didn't take any photos after but will have some coming soon! Will be Supercropping a couple if not all, will see what happens. Just playing it by ear at the moment trying to keep them short and bushy. hopefully get the net out 2-3 weeks maybe :)
The one which was not sure if fimmed correctly i think has definitely taken. Will keep you posted ;)
Day 35:
Really started to sprout up now ;)
The fimmed one looks good. I'm pretty sure I counted 8 tops from the point where it was cut.. Mad
Probably look to increase on the feed soon and also need to pot them up to their 20L superroots airpots. (they don't do 22.5L anymore?? gutted)
And yh some new instruments. expensive
Peace
Day 38 UPDATE ://
Obviously as you can see spent a few hours transplanting into 20L Airpots. roughly 20% perlite mix with 60/40 coco and clay pebbles, gold label ;)
Took maybe 4-6 fan leaves from each all the oldest ones to make clear some space for airflow also took tiniest new growth starting at the base of the stem. This wont produce anything in time before flower now with it being shielded from any direct light so get rid as it is just wasted energy.
Probably set the drippers back up tomorrow got some new 4 way manifolds so their going to get two stakes each for the 6 in big pots and the other two will just be hand fed. (Other 2 being left in 3L pots. See what happens with those)
Supercropping and Net next 😁 Keep you posted
Day 44:
Growth slowed. Would have liked the stems to be abit thicker at this point. Could be down to underfeeding and under-watering in my opinion. Run off coming out slightly high. I think increase fertigation events and increase EC hopefully will start to get back within range. Drippers upped to 8 intervals throughout the 16 hours, 3 of which being together, 15 mins after light switches on the the rest spaced equally throughout. Providing estimated total of 360ml per interval per plant. Total 360X8=2880ml per day - Probably still not enough so said to go in hand feed little bit throughout the day also.
On another note the one which was Fimmed looks like only one side took. Got 3 tops immediately in the center instead of the obvious 4. Looks quite cool but again its thin and doesn't look as strong as hoped almost going into flower.
If anyone wants to give any advice at this point please do! I have a few grows under my belt but I'm no expert by any means.
DAY 46 UPDATE:// Looking good most have had some form of supercropping now not easy to show but just been pinched and bent over to allow more space to penetrate into the middles and can already see the lower branching reaching upwards.
Need to raise the pots another 25cm to allow an easier to manage run to waste system to be put in. Recommended 6 putting washing up bowls in a line along the front of the tent and running flexible hosing into each from each saucer.
Going to keep training the branches into the net for a couple of days to fill up the canopy hopefully during some more rapid growth then flipping. Run off looking much better today upped the feed to 1.6 and getting within 0.1 - 0.2 ec run off within that. Also upped the feeding intervals so pump comes on 10 times 3 times of which being at lights on. Could really use 3 stakes per pot to shorten the time it takes to feed slightly.
See how we go for a few days. Flower time soon. Recommended getting some Buddha Tree FlowerBurst now really. Peace
DAY 49:
Were getting close. Ideally another week would be good to really train them out but gotta stick to schedule so I think this weekend they will be flipped. Net is abit low but might help fill it up easier in shorter time. Growth seems to have picked up again which is good.
EC going in at 1.67 coming out between 1 to 1.4 so will keep an eye on them next few days see if they fall back in line roughly within .3 ec from what they are being fed.
Bloody snapped a branch on the fimmed one aint he. No pics. seems ok branch still living is supported currently but seems to be repairing.
Temps getting bit too high due to raising the pots up 30cm. Probably bit too high as running out of headroom for the lights but does make sorting the run off easier. May need to lower again later stage.
