Aya Aya Ayahuasca

First time growing in a long while. I set up a custom grow tent with some wood and mylar sheets. I'm using an old Rodeadro lamp for now but expecting the new Mars Hydro sometimes soon. Really doing this for the experience with no great expectations and hopeful for a fair amount of weed in the end.

Leaves grew really funny and I suspect the fan was on too strong. They started getting a tiny bit of fertilizer and they seemed to respond well. I think I got the watering schedule down. My pots are too big for small plants but that's the choice I made. I'm looking for cytokinin hormones to rub on the secondary buds. My understanding is that if I do this right (and I have no idea of dosage or how to apply it) it'll remove apex dominance without the need for pruning. It will slow down growth a little too.

Slowly but surely, it's growing all right. The plants are keeping low and bushy. I have three plants, each with 3 different heights. One normal, one growing sideways and one that's kind of a dwarf. Only 3 months to go!

The plants are growing, and that's a great win for me! Still some over-watering and the light might be too strong (very short inter-node and a bit of yellowing) unless it's the nutrients or pH or something like that. Anyhow, I topped the two larger plants and applied a tiny amount of training. One plant responded very well with six new tops growing. 12 more weeks to go !!

Last week The plants were pruned and they reacted well. I also stopped feeding extra nutrients. They're in quality soil so I think it's not necessary so early in development. Last week I adjusted the light intensity and didn't have any more yellowing. This week I set the light to max again and the yellowing came up again! So at least I know what the problem was Damn it's slow though. Growing weed is a test of patience, I wanna get high already! (Just kidding, I'm high af right now)

Last week, the plants really started accelerating growth. I defoliated them lightly and pruned a couple more tips that were starting to overshadow the rest. I'm hesitant to installing a net for scrog. I imagine it'll help keep my plants level but it's gonna make watering such a pain. I guess the lesson is that if you build your own "tent", make sure the plants are accessible from several sides. Last week I thought it was too early for nutrients and this week I see signs of deficiencies on several leafs (I think mostly potassium). Week 4 or 5 is probably the right time to start with nutrients in soil.

Looking good, flowering time is soon!! Didn't install a net yet, mostly because I'm apprehending how hard it will be to water the plants when I can't move the pots (fabric grow bags). They seem to be responding well to nutrients. I feel I started one week late. The grow space is packed!! Too bad I didn't have a fourth seed, it would've been perfect. I'm just going to wait one more week or so to give a chance to some of the smaller heads to grow and then it's flowering time.

Last week ov veg, woooh! I installed a hard plastic "net" and I can immediately see how an elastic net would have worked better to train the plants to cover the grow area. It's hard to control every factor of the grow but I start to understand a few things and it's a very satisfying feeling.

First week of flowering and the first hair are appearing. Man, it's about time. I got an interesting plant, a couple of heads are very bushy and the stems are flat, as though two stems were merged together. Only 2 branches emerging from the same node have this, could it be that the stem cells at that particular node became tetraploid?? I hope it leads to bigger flowers! Out of the three plants, one has a potassium deficiency. Older leaves are burnt and the leaves are generally smaller than on the other plants. I'm going to start adjusting pH, I hope lime juice is good enough. Weather is cooling fast and they spent a night at 13 degrees. Time to turn on the heater a little.

One of the plants is definitely a partial polyploid. Apparently the stem cells at a specific node somehow became polyploid giving rise to two polyploid branches while the rest of the plant is standard. Another plant had a potassium deficiency and I stopped it with extra nutrients and by adjusting pH. I use lemon juice.. not sure it's ideal but at least it smells nice in my grow room! It's now lagging behind the other plants, hope I'll still get something out of it. Update: squeezing lemons is a pain 😀 I'll buy some of that "pH down" everyone seems to use

3rd week of flowering and purple buds are coming in, Woohoo! Maybe it means temperatures are a bit too low and it's probably something about genetics since the 3 plants all have different coloured buds. I defoliated quite a bit. It's a little scary to remove so much materials from the plants so I'll wait a few days before cutting more.

Grow, GROW, GROW!!!! Just kidding, I'm a very patient individual ✌️. I Defoliated a bunch last week and there's still more to do. I can't move the plants because of the scrog net so I'm contorsioning myself around the branches, it's a sport! I got one bright purple plant with many small buds, one slightly purple plant that I think will yield well, and one semi-mutant which is white and doing ok. I've been experimenting throughout so I was expecting varied results. Still, the color difference hints at a wide range of phenotypes for the same strain.

Plants grew well for the first few weeks of flowering but the growth seems to have slowed down. There are small signs of nutrient burn and the balance of nutrients is probably off. Luckily there are thousands of diaries to go through and hopefully I can find the best possible balance with the nutrients at my disposal. Fingers crossed that it isn't too late to adjust things.

I was surprised that the buds stopped growing and suddenly I saw signs of potassium deficiency... Duh 😑 So now I've adjusted things and I hope I can still grow those buds a bit bigger. I'm still glad I adjust pH with lemon juice. I have to press a buttload of lemons but the grow room smells awesome unlike the nutrients and that rancid neem oil, I heartily recommend it!

Last couple of weeks over here! I'm stopping all nutrients and only adjusting pH (with lemon juice) and the occasional neem oil to keep the soil insects at bay. I don't have an infestation, just a few of them flying around when I've watered too often. No kidding, the strain is great but next time I'll try an autoflowering strain as so many people seem to do lately, 4 months is a long time.

Last week of flowering, Woooooh! The trichomes are nice and milky with 0-5% amber trichomes. I'm going to wait until around 20% of the trichomes are amber. A few of the flowers look really nice. The branches that I topped twice have too many heads and not so much on them, but I still hope for a fair reward. I really feel like getting stoned now 😎

Growing my own weed was awesome! But what the hell am I gonna do with all that gear?! I got over 200 grams which seems like a lot but I feel I was pretty thorough with the trimming. I did notice that removing a maximum of sugar leaves makes for a nicer effect.
