CalMag Agent - Canna
CalMag Agent 1.5 mll
Germination: Soaked 15 hours in distilled water at 30°C, then put in cotton pads at 28°C for 24 hours. Initially, they should have been only 4, but since one wasn't opening at all in the cotton pads even when the other were ready to transplant, I launched another one. She must have wanted to troll me, because her root started to grow as I put the new one with her. I transplanted them in coco pellets presoaked in cal-mag water as soon as the tap root was about 1 cm long. There are then three of the same day and two other two days younger. Environment: In the coco pellets, I aim between 26-24°C and 90-80% humidity. I play them a few hours classical music a day, I want to put all the chances on my side lol Light: I turned the light a bit late, only as one started to open it's cotyledons. Normally you have to do it as the heads pop out.

As the tap root was pointing out of the pellet, I transplanted it into 0.3 pint fabric nursery bags. I've let them in it for 24 hours but then decided to transplant it into even bigger nursery pots, since they seemed not big enough in comparison with the pellets. I have been extra cautious with the roots, so I hope it won't cause them too much stress... but I think it was worth it. They're now in about 1,5 pint fabric nursery bags. Environment: In early veg, I maintain between 26-24°C and 90-80% humidity. The classical music doesn't seem to harm, so I keep going. Light: Starting from the minimum level, I turned it up of 10% a day up to 40%. Today (day 7) I tried 50% but I see what seems to be presigns of light burn, so I will stay at 40% for the moment. Watering: I started using Rhizotonic in addition to Cal-Mag (>350 EC) for days 4 and 5. Since yesterday (day 6), I use in top of that Diamond Nectar and Canna Coco A and B (>500 EC). Since the starting water is distilled water, I can aim a little bit higher in term of EC since I'm starting with EC about 0. The pH range is about 6.4-6.0

Two of the five have shown to be mutants. The mutation is quite hard and causes the leaves to grow crippled and with an uneaven color. I keep them for the moment but I don't think they will become anything viable (I've become a refund from Fastbuds; shoutout to them). I turned the light up to 50 as the first set of leaves really came out, then up to 70 as the second set appeared. I think I should've turned it quicker up, since the stem seams quite long in comparison with other diaries I've seen. I also started lowering the light gradually, about 2 cm a day. Two of them started having twisted leaves, which is a sign of an early calcium deficiency, so I started increasing the dose of cal-mag agent in the solution and foliar feed them with a calmag-wet betty solution at about 0.8 EC. The leaves seem quite light green, maybe a nitrogen deficiency ?

Same feeding schedule, I'm just diluting it less to achieve the right EC. Went from 0.7 to about 1 yesterday (day 21) by increasing proggressively. I started watering three times a day. As they all reached 3 nodes, I transplanted them into the second container. They all seamed a bit unhappy but after a few hours everything went normal. In order to experiment, I chose to only top the biggest one on day 18, and that I would LST the two others that were about one day behind in term of growth. I will see how all this develops, but I think next time I will top each one, since growth doesn't seem to be slowed down at all, and topping even exposes the side branches underneat to light, causing them to grow faster in comparison with the two others. I am looking forward to do a manifold on her, I will probably top the new colas again on day 24. I ponytailed the two others for about 10 hours, to expose the side branches that are normally covered by the big leaves. About the two others: one pheno is stretching much more than the other, that grows very compact. I started LST on the biggest, while redoing a ponytail on the small one to get the side branches to grow and so start LST asap. Two of them are starting to suffer again from cal-mag deficiency, this time with brown spots on the leaves, so I will restart the foliar feed today (day 22) The two mutants have topped themself, but the same strange leaves come out at every node, so I threw them away since they wouldn't become anything correct.

Ok, so since they are too small for their age, I'm doing some experimenting on them, to find the sweet spot regarding nutrients, hanging height of the light, defoliation, etc. The one in the "bonsai shape" threw the pistils already on day 22... a bit early to me. The topped one also started flowering yesterday, on day 28. I started the "vegetation II" nutrient schedule from Canna, diluting it to about EC 1.1. I defoliate every leaf that is blocking light access to another. I retopped the side branches of the topped one, as well as the two ones that were on top coming from the previous topping. I think it's actually too much, but she doesn't seem that sad. At this point, what I can already remember for my next grow: -light should be increased a bit faster, as two of the three grew a bit stretchy -nutrients can also be increased faster and higher -topping is a must, seems to make the plant way more vigorous -autoflowers can be treated exactly as photos if done properly
