First Indoor Grow

I had a small struggle with maintaining temperature and humidity. I added a small infrared heater and watered less and now everything seems to be stable. Northern lights Autoflower came up first. It already has its first true leaves and the second set are developing now. Second to emerge was Auto Blueberry, which now also has its first true leaves. I was a bit impatient with the other 2 plants that have not yet emerged. I used one of my probes to disturb the soil where Auto Chemdog was planted and i see that it has germinated and hopefully will emerge tonight or tomorrow and hopefully I didn't upset it by being impatient. I left Tangerine Dream alone and will give it more time. I'm very excited to finally get this grow going. I have a long while to go but I'm looking forward to the journey. I ordered a small dehumidifier which will hopefully bring the moisture down a bit more.

I lost hope that chemdog would emerge, I was shocked to see it come up 12 days after planting. One of the cotyledons was stuck inside the seed coat and is smaller than the other one. Hopefully this wont stress the plant out too much. I'm really impressed at how well the other 2 plants are doing. I doubt that Tangerine Dream will emerge. I disturbed the soil and i dont see anything growing in there. I think Im just going to remove the pot and plant some cilantro and basil and see how they do.

I was really surprised to start smelling the plants right away. I don't smell anything outside of the tent which is good I find I can keep temperature better if I don't run the exhaust fan all the time. I usually just turn it on for 10 mins a day. I also open the door many time a day just to check everything. I found a pretty cool solution for keeping humidity down, Eva-dry E-333 Renewable Wireless Mini Dehumidifer on amazon. Just put it in the tent, requires no power to run, when the balls inside change from orange to green you take it out and plug it into an outlet until the balls are orange again. I think im going to put a couple more in when I get to the bud stage.

I had to redo this week. After I posted I did some more research and realized I was measuring my nutrients improperly. I got it right this time and I decided that I would start this week to transition to bloom. I think I should cater to my 2 best growing plants and if the smaller one does not do well its only one more plant lost. Im definitely only planting one strain next time. I think that will make things more consistent and easier. I am using a Zero-Water filter for my water and it brings the ppm down to 2 so that's why I had to add so much cal-meg to bring the ppm up to 600-800. I turned my lights up to 100% and i set the lights to only come on for 12 hrs. I was planning to do some LST but life got a bit busy and I didnt plan for how I was going to do it. I saw some great ideas today on this site. I will plan better for my next grow. I have already learned so much and I will be a lot better prepared for the next one. Im not frustrated with anything yet as its all a learning process and I dont have expectations that I am going to produce the max yield possible on my first grow. I think now that im feeding properly I should see the yellowing go away. I think it is caused by not enough Nitrogen. It makes sense that now they are really bulking up the plants are going to require more water and nutrients to continue to grow well.

Im seriously behind in updating my grow progress but luckily I took pictures each week. The previous week I did a transition from veg nutrients to bloom nutrients. I forgot to look at the time to see what sex my plants are. I eventually figured that out a few weeks later

I had someone else take the photos for me this week and they are so much better than mine. These plants are really bulking up. I didn't know what to expect once I went into the flowering stage. I had to increase my feeding to 500 ml a day as these ladies are thirsty and hungry.

The plants are getting really large and looking so healthy. Chemdog auto was the late bloomer but it really caught up and was soo full of buds. But those buds were looking a bit different from the other plants. Laying in bed one night it dawned on me that this different plant could be a male. I thought i bought all feminized but i guess not. haha. I will now remember to start looking for signs of gender in week 3/4 haha. So many lessons learned with this grow. Im already planning my next one. Ill try to remember to add some notes at the end of the grow showing what I learned and will do differently next time. Im down to 2 female plants, im betting on a pretty small harvest but with all luck ill have 4 nice plants for the next grown and ill start 4 more to grow outside this summer. This has really inspired me to try different grow methods as well. I'm planning to grow some hydroponic veggies on a grow wall outside this summer on my deck. Lots of things ive learned growing weed I can now apply to veggies and fruit plants.

Finally I'm caught up with my diary entries. I removed some of the bottom leaves to help the plant focus on bud growth. I didn't remove too many but now its even easier to water the plants. The Buds are starting to thicken up and the plants are pretty tall. I'm not noticing a huge increase in the smell yet but I assume the plants will get more skunky in weeks to come. Im starting to collect the supplies that I will need for drying, pruning and cleaning up the buds and curing. I cant wait to try the fruits of my labour but it will be a few more months before that can happen.

This week everything continues to move along nicely. The buds are bulking up and I removed a bunch of the larger leaves so the plants can focus on bud growth and development. The plants are much more thirsty and I need to stay on them with feedings. I have started researching DWC for my next grow. I think this might be a fun way to grow. Also I would add more additives to promote vegetation growth and budding. I will also use low stress training and removing growth points early on to promote branching. Ive seen some youtube videos and the yields are insane.

Ive been doing some research for my next grow and I found a feeding schedule from General Hydroponics. I added some other supplements to try to help increase my yield. I am not sure if im too late in adding these but I figure it cant hurt. Ive been watching a bunch of youtube videos from other growers and I will plan to do a lot more training of the plant to produce more main buds. I will have mostly popcorn buds this time. Im planning to get a bigger grow tent, add an extra light, use a self watering system and add CO2. I am loving the experience i have been getting with this grow. One day i hope to be able to produce a massive harvest.

I got a new water filter. It does not remove the TDS like the Zero Water filter. I am going to look for another solution for this as the Zero Water Filter is very slow and on my next grow im considering going to the autoPot self watering system so I can rely on filtering 6 cups of water at a time haha. In my tests i had a brain fart and I poured in some water with a ph of 8. This was very dumb lol and of course i saw the tips of the leaves got burned. Also, i started having an issue with humidity spiking and I had to buy a small dehumidifier to help dry things out. I dont see any powdery mildew or other high humidity issues.

I started feeding for the Ripen staging for this week. I'm begging to start these ladies down their path to harvest. I will feed this mixture all this week and go into Rinse stage next week. When I started this journey I had a lot of misconceptions. I thought 60 day flower meant from seed to harvest. haha oops that was very wrong. I also didnt train my plants, i pruned late and I had issues with mixing nutrients at the beginning. I have so many ideas how Im going to do the next grow much better and hopefully have a much bigger yield than I am going to get this time. I was expecting to have a very weedy smell but so far its still pretty mild. Im hoping over the next 2 weeks that will change. Im still loving the process and I have definitely been bitten by the growing bug. Im still almost 2 months away from getting to try these beauties but I will patiently wait. haha

This week I moved to flushing stage. Im seeing the plants getting lighter green and the buds are nice and hairy. Next Monday I will be starting the 48 hrs of darkness followed by harvesting/drying. Im excited to see what that process is like. Still so far to go before I get to sample them haha. Once drying is done I will start my next grow. I cant wait haha

Final post before harvest. Flushing is finished. Lights are off for 48 hrs. I could not adjust the grow settings for 0 hrs of light in this post and I wants me to add nutrients but there are no more feedings. I am really looking forward to finishing this grow and see what my yield is. Once the drying is done I will get set up for the next grow. Im really looking forward to it. I have not been spending much time with the plants like I did in the beginning. I used to look in on them several times a day. Now im just letting them do their thing. Ill make a harvest post later this week. fingers crossed it goes well. haha
