Germination

Lys3rc On 11/03/2020, I placed the 3 Quick One seeds into the coconut substrate. Germination took place in the "propagation box" at around 80% humidity. The temperature fluctuates from about 25°C during the day to around 20°C at night, and I'm trying to keep it constant with a small heating mat and a heating cable. By 11/06/2020, the first sprouts were visible, illuminated by an approximately 80W LED lamp. After initial concerns, I'm happy to report that all the seeds have come up.

Lys3rc Today is the 7th day since my girls have seen the artificial light. I actually wanted to keep them in my "nursery box" for a while longer since I could keep the humidity here constant at 70% - 80%. But when I checked the pots today, I noticed some mold had spread. After a brief consultation with a gardening friend, I decided to repot the plants immediately. In the box, I have, besides the lights, two heating mats connected to a Romberg thermostat and two 5W fans on a timer. The idea is to use this setup at night, with the fans for a "cool" temperature and stability, and during the day, with the heating mats, to ensure an appropriate temperature. This is the first time I'm working with such a setup. In the coming weeks, there will be quite a bit of adjustment needed to keep the temperature and humidity at the desired level. I might get a few more devices to keep the humidity constant.

Lys3rc All in all, I'm quite satisfied. This is probably because I don't have too many expectations for this grow. Even the last harvests under this 6-year-old LED lamp yielded 60g - 100g (unfortunately not per plant). However, I've never applied any techniques to increase my yield. This time, I'll try to tie the girls down a bit to create a denser planted surface (if you can put it that way :D). The humidity and temperature are relatively stable at the desired levels. The only support here is a damp towel. In terms of growth, two of the three plants are holding back a bit. Probably because the roots haven't reached the fertilized substrate yet. However, the third one has likely doubled in size over the last few days. To further support growth, I added the first nutrients to the watering today.

Lys3rc The LST didn't go so well with the autos. I was probably a bit too rough. I trimmed some of the leaves that were touching the ground. This likely caused a lot of stress. In any case, the plants are noticeably stunted in growth. The mother plant that was topped at the same time as the autos is creating an interesting situation in the box. She was the strongest plant in my second grow (https://growdiaries.com/diaries/85605-royal-queen-seeds-shining-silver-haze-grow-journal-by-lys3rc) and has already surpassed the autos by a long shot. I'm curious to see if the autos can catch up in the coming weeks.

Lys3rc It turns out that the supposed "mom" was actually an auto >.<. Also, there was a Shining Silver Haze in the box, which I thought was an auto. I must have mixed something up during germination.... So now there’s only one topped and two LST Quick Ones left in the box. The topped one seems to be developing quite well, but the two tied down ones probably won't yield as much :D. Obviously, it was too much stress for the autos after all.

Lys3rc The buds are developing fabulously. The late-topped auto looks really nice too. It's worth considering topping my autos in the future as well.

Lys3rc This week, unfortunately, not much documented. Nevertheless, the buds are obviously developing beautifully. I didn't think the girls would recover so well from the shock.

Lys3rc The buds are continuing to develop beautifully. The nutrients have been slightly increased to give the buds a proper boost in the final weeks.

Lys3rc The buds have gotten a noticeable boost again. The buds are slowly becoming so strong and heavy that the branches come towards me when I open the tent. The "really strong" scent strongly reminds me of that rubber note you also know from Skunk. All in all, I think the girls will be ready for harvest in the next few weeks.
