Day 8 - This is my very first grow! So if you want to watch a person struggle, you've come to the right place. There has been so much to learn. I'm using a blurple light right now which I learned is not ideal, I have an HLG 600w Rspec LED on the way that will replace it. I also started with pots that had no drainage. I've since poked holes in the pots and that has helped. This marks one week the GG4 has been sprouted. I started germinating the wedding cake almost a week after the gg4 so it is behind. 2/3 wedding cakes starting to pop out of soil. Soil is Roots Organics formula 707. I'm currently using no additional nutrients. Day 9 - I finally named them. The wedding cakes are Wednesday, Wendy, and Wesley. The Gorilla glues are Gloria, Glenda, and Glados. Wesley was shriveled up today. Looked like she didn't get enough water. She seemed to be recovering before I left for work. All 3 Wedding cakes are now popped out of soil! The gorilla glues are looking much better since I discovered I was over watering them. This is my first full day without watering the glues. The yellow and the red in the centers is slowly disappearing. I discovered the PH of my water had been going up after bubbling. I'm still not sure why and I haven't heard of this before. I'm being more cautious about my water though. I'm trying to test more often. I'm considering SCROG but I still need to do more research. I'm planning to flower in what will amount to a 4x4 space. 1x4 of my 5x4 tent has been dedicated to my fans and humidifier. D10 - I'm pretty sure Wesley is going to die if she's not already dead. Poor girl. I think she's probably the one I knocked over and had to put back in the dirt. Oh well. Everyone else is looking healthy. The gg4s went 48 hours without water and I just watered them. I checked the PH of my water before watering them this time. AGAIN the PH of my water had gone up over time. I don't understand it. I've been reading about people checking the PH of their soil. I'm going to do that soon, just not right now. After watering, the glues seemed to go limp a bit. It might be a side effect of over watering them in the beginning. Maybe I should have gone 3 days without watering. The soil was very dry though. So there's a mystery I need to solve, why do my plants go limp after watering. You'd think it would be something wrong with my water. Everyone at the local grow store uses the city water the same way I do and they say it's fine. Maybe I'll buy a tds meter anyway. D11 - Last night I decided on Manifolding as my grow technique. Shout out to @HAPPY91 who I saw mention Nebulas method. I did some digging after that and liked what I found. - New light came in today! Switched out the old blurple and put in the hlg. It looks great. I just need to figure out the height and intensity a bit. - Oh yeah...Wesley is dead RIP. - As per ORGANOMAN's (just tagged twice recently. Not trying to tag a third time!) suggestion I now have a few gallons of water sitting out over night. I'll let the chlorine evaporate a bit and use it just how it is. From what he said and what I've read after his suggestion, PH down can hurt your organic grows. PH down will kill the micro life in your super soil. Light intensity: lowest setting Light height: 27 inch from tallest (Glados of course! I love this girl. I might make her a mother and hold onto her for a bit) Humidity: 22-45 (ouch. Forgot to refill the humidifier) Temp: 64-79 (my tent is right by a window and is seeing fluctuations day and night. I'm trying to find solutions for my window) D12 - 1:55 PM - Jan 14th Light intensity: lowest setting Light height: Didn't move Humidity: 24-45 (still waiting on new humidifier) Temp: 66-79 - Watered the glues until right before I suspected runoff. I've read that watering till runoff with organic soil will wash all of your nutrients away. I used the unmodified tap water that I'd let sit out over night. I didn't notice a drooping after watering which is good. - lightly watered the wedding cakes. - Wednesday is really tall with tiny leaves and is falling over already which seems pretty weird. I'll try to do some research tonight. Update: this is called stretching. She was using all of her energy to get to the light. She needed more light! - All else seems good. I hope the plants like the new light! No indication of light burn that I can see. D13 - Jan 15th Light intensity: lowest setting Light height: 30 inches from tallest Humidity: 27-45 Temp: 64-79 - Last night I finally just let Wednesday fall over since that's what she wanted to do. This morning she seems pretty happy about it. Stem seems thicker and stronger, leaves look better. - everything looks good as far as I can tell. - update: I came home to Wednesday starting to straighten herself out. I read to put more soil in the pot and partially bury the stem to help with stabilization. D14 - Jan 16th Light: the same Humidity : 24-61 Temp: 64-81 - I'm having to use TWO humidifiers to keep my humidity up which seems crazy to me - some of them had red stems this morning - watered everyone today - my plants seem to be growing slow compared to other diaries I've seen - I will start nutrients next watering. I went with floranova per ORGANOMANS suggestIon. Please like, follow, or comment. I'm very new and open to any suggestions. Thanks everyone.

I've decided to do Manifolding with my plants. They are currently in 4 inch pots. When should I transplant them? Before topping them? What size pot should I transplant to? I'm growing 5 plants in a 4x4. Thank you for any help you can provide :).

Seeing as how this is your first grow, lets try not to make things too complicated for ourselves. You have to learn how to crawl before you can run, so I would suggest you just grow them normally and when you have worked out a bit about what it takes to grow cannabis successfully, then explore new techniques such as "mainlining". Get an understanding of your equipment, nutrients, plant hygiene, your plants requirements, water quality and quantity and substrate function before adding another layer of complication on top of it all. It would really help you if you get a basic knowledge base first and not overload yourself with trying to do too much too soon. I am not saying it is impossible, but probably not needed just yet. Right now your questions reflect a basic level of what's involved (no disrespect intended!) and like I suggested, you should try and not make things overly complicated for yourself with your very first grow. There are a fair few basic principles to master, it is not quite "put them in dirt, feed them and water them, switch lights on and off and bingo, free buds! Anyway, they look almost ready for transplanting, maybe wait until they are on their third set of leaves. Pots of about 20 litres/5 gallons work fine. Definitely don't top them before transplanting them, wait until they have been transplanted plus at least another two weeks for them to settle into new strong growth before any topping is done and there are at least 5-8 nodes to chose from, remembering the very lowest two sets of branches never really grow that well and I generally remove them as soon as they are big enough to be seen. Just rub the stem or slide a fingernail down and they will be gone, no need to use a blade etc). Topping them will also cause them to slow down for another 10-14 days while they recover and work out what has just happened, and before they start growing normally again. I would also suggest starting your seeds next time in plastic pots. While those environmentally friendly pots seem like a great idea, in my experience with them, is that they take a very long time to break down enough to let the roots go freely. In the end I carefully cut slits in the sides to help the roots get out much faster and much more easily. I couldn't work out why my plants were growing so slowly, so I carefully dug up one of those cardboard pots to discover to my horror that they had basically not broken down at all and my plants roots were really struggling to break through the "eco pots" and into the fresh soil into which I had transplanted them into. Besides, the plastic pots, if treated with kindness, can be washed and re-used for many years, making them an almost "responsible" option environmentally. I worked out that the cardboard ones would only break down and allow unimpeded root growth if they were kept REALLY wet and soggy, which is something that cannabis does not like. The mysterious pH increases can sometimes be traced back to the material that the actual "air stone" is made out of and leaching lime/calcium into your water. It probably isn't overly harmful/critical, however, if you can find an airstone that is dark grey/black in colour (aquarium shop), they seem to be less reactive than the cheap blue/green ones. About your seedlings going limp after watering, it could be a reaction to whatever you are using to adjust the pH of your water. At this age/size, the seedlings are pretty fragile and I would be giving them plain tap water without anything added to it. If the tap water is fine for people to drink, your seedlings will be fine with it too. If you are really keen, just let the tap water in a bucket for 24-36 hours before using it and this will allow all the chlorine to evaporate before you use it. pH is not something that is overly critical when growing in soil and it is not a case of if it isn't exactly 6.8 your plants will die/not grow/not perform/be ok - as long as the pH range is somewhere between 6.0 and 7.4 your plants will grow just fine. Nutrient "lock out" in the true sense, does not occur unless your soil is below 5.0 or above 8.0 which is almost impossible to achieve without chemical intervention or gross mistakes. All these little things are all the little "crawling steps" you need to understand before you can run. Like most things in life, it often pays to keep things as simple as possible (or also known as the "KISS" principle), especially if it is your first grow. Do you have/ have you decided on which nutrients you will be feeding your girls? If not, following in the "keep it simple routine, "Flora Nova Grow one part and Flora Nova Bloom one part by GHE and Bio Vega (one part) and Bio Flores (one part) by Bio Canna are two lines that are super effective and super simple to use (but half strength is usually more than enough), that I can highly recommend. They are also all just one bottle complete fertilizers meaning no mixing or having to buy bottle B and/or C to make a complete product. They are all quite concentrated, so you don't need much and one bottle will last many, many plants or multiple grows. And no, I don't sell the stuff or work for either company, I just like recommending them because they work and they are simple to use. Congratulations if you made it this far and all the way through my ramblings, I am just keen for new growers to learn and not be put off by overly complicated or overly rigid ideas that might put them off growing all together. Feel free to message me if you like, I love helping people. Good luck with your grow, you have embarked on a journey that will bring you endless joy and endless learning. I have been learning for 35+ years and amaze myself with how much there is still to learn, as you never stop learning with cannabis cultivation. If you do, then you are not paying attention! Hope this helps,.... Organoman.

I read it's important to exchange the air in your grow area once per five minutes. Because I read that, I've had my inline exhaust fan running in my tent since the beginning of my grow. Is that right?

Most run 24/7. I personally run mine 15 on 15 off on timer due to keeping temps warmer in grow area. But regularly moving air is needed to exchange new air and control humidity. Good luck and happy growing 🌲🌲🌲👊

Hoi!

Thanks @@Weezy90! A new humidifier is on the way to help the situation. PH, I'm going to go with @ORGANOMAN suggestion and try using just my tap water that has set out over night and see what happens. Nice grows by the way! Looking great.
