I germinated this Growers Choice Seeds Feminized Green Crack seed directly in peat moss which has been spiked with Down to Earth Organics dry amendments. Blood meal, seabird guano and langbenite were mixed into the media along with worm castings. I will continue to top dress with dry amendments to feed the plant.
This green crack feminized seed from growers choice seeds germinated about 1 week ago and has been moving along slowly but steadily as it puts on leaf mass. It does not appear to be stretching significantly. I am watering the soil to saturation about every 5 days or so, as it dries down. I am planning to top this plant, possibly next week, and do some low stress training to fill out the canopy in this small closet grow.
This plant seems to be steadily growing along and seems happy and healthy. I am planning to top this plant a few times and do some low stress training ahead of flowering. At this point I expect to run the light at 19/5 for another 4 weeks for at least 6-7 weeks of vegetative growth.
I topped the plant today as well as added amendments to the soil. I added 7 tsp seabird guano (0,11,0) 2 tsp langbeinite (0,0,22) and 2 tsp blood meal (11,0,0) along with a small handful of worm castings. These dry amendments were stirred into the surface of the soil then watered in. I am planning 1 more top dressing for this plant when it begins to flower.
The fungus gnats are starting to show themselves again so I let the pot dry down for about 5 days. Overall very pleased with the plant so far, it has been growing a bit slowly and is fairly compact but it has nice leaf color and feels sturdy.
The plant seemed to respond well from the topping and the new growth has put on some length so I pulled them out toward the edge of the pot with some LST. I have been bottom and top watering at the same time with about 1/2 gallon of well water every 4-5 days.
I did a small bit of defoliation in the center of the plant to expose some of the apical shoots to direct light. I think this will be the last week for vegetative growth and I'll switch the lights over to 12/12 this coming weekend. I will add a 50 watt "blue" led light and a 35 watt "white" led light to help saturate the entire canopy with light during flower.
I switched the lights over to 12/12 from 19/5 at the end of this week to start the flowering phase. I added dry amendments Blood meal (1.5 tsp @ 12,0,0) Langbenite ( 2 tsp @ 0,0,22) Seabird Guano ( 7 tsp @ 0,11,0) along with 5 tsp of worm castings and 1 tsp of powdered mycorrhizal fungi. This amendment package was mixed together and stirred into the surface of the soil, then watered in with well water.
First week of flowering light cycle for this plant seems to be going well. The feeding from last week seems to be taking hold and the new growth looks very healthy. I removed the 35 Watt white flood light from the closet since it was kicking out too much extra heat.
The plant seems to be drinking a bit more water as it puts on size and adds more flowers. I gave 1 top dressing of worm castings (about 2 cups) this week ahead of watering. I am now watering with about 1/2 gallon of water or so, 2-3 times per week. I may do an additional NPK macro nutrient top dressing in a couple weeks to give a boost of nutrients during mid flower. At this point the plant seems a bit on the short/small side but overall very pleased with how it is progressing!
I removed some lower fan leaves that were turning a bit yellow, along with other fan leaves that were blocking flower sites. I gave one final top dressing of amendments to the plant this past week. I may do a few more scoops of worm compost since I have been watering to the point of runoff from the pot. Still kind-of slow and steady progression with this one but it is looking very healthy!
I have been removing some leaves from the interior of the plant as well as larger fan leaves in the middle of the canopy. The plant is taking on a lot more water now and starting to get a little frosty!
I have added a top dressing of Diatomaceous earth to help with another fungus gnat hatching. Watering with about 1/2 gallon of water every 2 days now as the flowers are drinking up lots of water. The plant is looking healthy and really starting to show some nice crystals!
I took a peek with the jewelers loupe today and saw almost entirely clear trichomes with a few amber ones. Looking back at the photos from last week it seems this could be the final week, maybe two more. I have stopped feeding and am just watering with well water every 2-3 days.
