H2O flush in an aeroponics rig. An evolving experiment by a novice grower. My test wappa in the corner was progressing nicely but i abandoned that flower to fill up the rig for a first full veg/flower cycle
Experimenting with coplanting aeroponics. First crop. Will begin some low stress training this week but have been leaf tucking daily along with some bending. I’m a very novice indoor gardener looking forward to learning through this community. Will update previous weeks over the coming days. Cheers
Was tempted to switch to flower but decided to veg out for another week. Will continue more LST and may build a ScROG. Very pleased with the recent growth progression. Light clawing visible on a couple of WW leaves but i’m testing the limits of my PPM so some burn is to be expected. The Moby is taking it very well.
Possibly a bit premature but i’m Vegged out lets flower! Noticed my PH had slipped down to 5.3 and I think that’s likely the cause of some visible issue with the White widow and the Wappa. But the Moby D still looks great. They all share the same feed.
Day 8- CRX Sunny X-5 is failing. Time for a new flowering LED. Thinking either the Viparspectra 1200w or the Mars Reflector 192 but open to suggestions for a 4x4 canopy.
Day 9- more leaf tucking in the net. Decided to go with two smaller lights(Mars ECO98’s) rather than 1 big one as there’s nothing in the middle to utilize the primaryily lit area of a bigger light. Hopefully they arrive tomorrow.
Day 10- Everyone happy and flowering. Topped up res with H2O. Anxiously awaiting new lighting
Day11 - New lights arrived and installed. More leaf tucking. All plants are actively flowering now
Day13- more tucking. Buds are beginning to stack up and seem to be liking the new lights.
Day 14- more leaf tuck and H2O topup. Next week lower N. Raise PK and will likely add some RAW amino acids, and biogenic silica. Possibly some vitamin B.
Flower day 15 - Lower N. Raised PK. Adding amino acids to kelate calcium from hard water. Humic acid to stabilize PH and Silica to improve iron uptake and immune responce. New to spoon feeding but i'll try it out
Flower day 16 - stretch seems to be slowing. Lost the net. Removed all LST ties. NPK raw is making a huge difference.
Flower day 17 - still some visible deficiency on the white widow but the others are thriving. Will try adding some cal mag tomorrow. Lesson learned on multiple strains on a common res. You can’t please everyone.
Flower day 18 - 8L res refill PH 5.7 - 750ppm. Some defoliation and removal of small base buds and unproductive branching for improved airflow around the base. Still no CalMag...
Flower day 19 - 2L top up. PH5.6 -650ppm. Everyone looks pretty happy. Still no CalMag. Likely not till next week
Flower day 20 - 8L res refill PH 5.7 PPM 800
Flower day 21 - thirsty girls drinking lots
Flower day 22 - 8L Rez refill H2O, microbes, amino acids, humic acid, and silica. Clearing residual salts before a fresh balanced batch of nutrients.
Flower day 23 - 2L top up with nute mix PH5.7 400ppm
Flower day 28 - the week has been stable. Daily ph drops of about 0.3-0.5. Supplementing with Potassium Hydroxide adjusting back to 5.9 daily. 5.5 by 8pm the next day. Adding a touch of raw Nitrogen and Potassium to H2O topups of listed base mix. Also have had CalMag for the last few waters. WW Still presenting a bit of iron toxicity but overall very happy garden.
Flower day 29-staying the course
Flower day 30- discovery of The beginnings of a spidermite issue. Biological countermeasures have been ordered. Heartbroken that this crop bay not be salvageable but trying to stay positive.
Flower day 37 - still waiting on predator mites. Haven’t opened the door fully to take a full panoramic shot.
Day 38 - H20 top up. PH 6.0 650ppm Still waiting for beneficial insects. Growth continues steadily. No more mites found on any leave taken off. Concerned about the redish colour i’m seeing
Flower day 42 - I finally figured out to turn off my Blurples!!!! Noticing significant nitrogen and phosphorous deficiencies. Topping up with PK and Bloom and a 1/16th tsp of ammonium nitrogen/g and it’s actually looking substantially better than yesterday
Fl Day 43 - waiting on beneficials but overall happy and progressing. Nitrogen/Phosphorus deficiencies are improving a little but at this point in the game I'm A)more concerned about the mites. B) will be flushing soon anyways.
Fl day 47 - no mites found on any of the leaves taken since intro of predators 3 days ago. Nitrogen deficiency in full swing and not sure if the purple i’m seeing is genetic or phosphorus deficiency
Fl day 49 - battling leaks, mites and deficiencies. No mites spotted in days since predators introduced. RAW P-K used in any res top ups.
This experiment has taught me a great deal about all of these strains. I switched half way to NPK Raw and watched all the Harley Smith videos I could find. These strains all displayed differing deficiencies at different times. My 10L res PH, supporting 4 x 5g Buckets, plummets Daily failing from 6.5 to 5.3. Exclusivly H20 topups. Co-planting deficiency overall is that you can’t cater to anyone on a shared resivoir.
I've grown a few strains up to this point and the White Widow has been the most temperamental. Wants to grow straight up, and didn't like to be tied down. Appeared more PH sensitive to all the others and also wanted more nutrients than the rest but was hard to nail down exactly what she wanted and wasn't getting. I likely did some damage to the others trying to please her. Dense/Heavy trichome rich buds. Curing now. Will update further post smoke... happy July Harvest!!!!
Overall super pleased with this run. This strain was a pleasure to grow. Can’t wait to try. Will update post cure/smoke. She thrived in the aero rig and responded well to the LST, but was tough to maintain any semblance of symmetry Branching liked to run sideways more than up. I look forward to wrestling the Wappa again in the future.
Flush flush flush. With the differences in flowering times between these and the others my flush was far too early for the Moby D and i’m sure that hurt my total production weigh today. I’m also certain that every sweet nug I get will be extra flavourful if not as bountiful as possible. Won’t be long now.
