Week 1 Sour Dragon Auto.
GW genetics.
Lineage - DC Ruby Dragon Auto bx x Fastbuds Sour Diesel.
Thanks to my great mate for the opportunity to test this strain.
I put a swag of seeds in hoping to get a few good ones to test.
So far nearly all, if not all have popped! Only a couple of stragglers have been pulled out already, but most are doing very well.
I put a couple of spares in the outdoor pot, to see how they may handle exposure from day dot.
Others are together in a 4l pot with sunlight in the day, and topped up lighting at night.
My plan is to filter out the best 6, then keep the best 2 or 3 females (these are Regs too).
Then to try different methods, techniques, feeds etc to see how they handle everything.
It’s a great opportunity to play around a bit and learn a bit more about autos and how they handle my outdoor conditions.
So, once again,, here we go!! 🍻
Week 2 for Sour Dragon
They are doing well enough, with a nice warm week of weather and high humidity.
Not as lanky as my others so no real need for supports. I’ve narrowed it down to 5 good ones.
Ideally I will have 3 or 4 of the best ones, then decide what to do when they show their sex (regs).
All but one of the outdoor ones perished, and although the one left is smallish, I know he’s tough!
It’s so far so good for the little dragons 🐉
Week 3
Sour dragons are doing really well! They have shown to be pretty tough I would say.
I went against one of the golden rules of autos, and transplanted them into their own larger pots.
I know it’s not ideal, but they needed more space and if I waited I risked the roots winding up in eachother.
They really didn’t seem to notice at all. I scooped all the soil around well when I took em out, so I don’t even think they realised the move,
other than the new and improved soil. They seem to have thrived mostly and not slowed up.
I also leave them out now instead of putting under the light nightly. They seem to enjoy being in the backyard!
The 2 better ones got the 2 bigger pots. Only one of the outside ones survived, and it’s going great!
I planted it in with the blueberry bush, and left it to do its thing. It’s definitely tough, which is what I wanted to see.
This is really trying different things to test these ones, and so far they are pretty good!
More to follow 🍻
Week 4.
An eventful week really. This is the first time I have grown regs so I was looking forward to seeing the differences.
Already they have shown themselves. Maybe so quick because they are autos.
3 lads and 3 girls, including the one that lives outside, so I have finally got my keepers. The toughest of the bunch.
This week we are getting a shit load of rain, maybe even right through next week too!
Luckily I can alternate a bit with indoor light when the rain is too full on.
So far I am pretty happy with the dragons, they are handling themselves well 🍻
Week 5 Sour Dragons.
Flowering already!
The dragons really picked up this week, despite being stuck inside most of the week due to torrential rain.
So unfortunately not many good pics this week. We will get some better weather from tomorrow.
The one outside is hanging in like a champ, he may just surprise me in the end.
A tough week, but they are pretty tough little plants 🍻
Week 6 for Sour dragons.
2 extra days added to last week cos I am so late posting.
They are going well! Cool looking buds developing and clumping around the top.
Pretty straight up and down, no branching other than the main stem on these ones.
I’ve never tried diesel bud before so I’m looking forward to the end result
The one I kept outdoor with the mulberry is still going, but nowhere near as well as the other 2.
So far so good with the dragons 🍻
Week 7 for sour dragons.
And once again,, another full week of rain! Almost constant for the whole Easter week.
The dragons would be hanging for a few days of sun baking.
I think later this week it’s supposed to improve.
They are pretty small, and straight up and down really. One of them is packing on a bit more than the other.
But they already smell mean,, I like the deep dark green leaves against the bright white buds.
I might not get much from them, but they are beautiful to watch and easy to grow.
Week 8 for the sour dragons.
A great week of weather reports and the dragons are going really well.
Still packing on weight nicely. Although they are only shorties.
One is a lot fatter than the other, and a fair bit shorter too, but they all smell the same. Strong smelling too!
I’m really excited to try this mystery strain, and I feel like I won’t have too much longer to wait 🍻
Week 9. Not long to go I would say. Some beautiful purple colour is showing, especially on the lower buds.
The dragons have a strong smell too, even just being nearby they give themselves away.
The fat one had a couple of bouts of spider mite, and instead of spraying I gave them a light blast with the hose.
It did the job, but damaged a couple of the big leaves. Not really an issue. The skinny one never really got any mites.
One more nice week of weather an I will be happy 🍻
Week 10 Sour Dragons.
Unreal changes this week, with rich purple pushing through on both plants now.
I love the purple on green with the orange pistils over the top, just magic to look at.
The smell is so good. I haven’t had diesel before and wondered what it might be like.
This has such an unbelievable smell. I am really loving these dragons, they are beautiful to grow.
This will be the last week I reckon. Looking forward to trying these beauties for sure 🍻
Week 11 for Sour Dragons
These are some stunning looking plants for sure. I’m not sure if this is what GW was expecting when he created this one, but the result of the cross is spectacular colour in the final weeks. I have 2 plants with the same smell, but differences in appearance. One is skinny, but taller and has spaces between buds. Straight up and down with no branches. It has a lovely deep purple coming through on the peripherals which slowly creeps across the leaves and fills them up from the outside in. The other is shorter but much fatter and no spaces, pretty much one big bud. It has less deep purple coming in, but the entire bud has turned a burgundy, magenta type colour. The diesel smell is prominent. Now 11 weeks on I thought it might be ready, but I can’t find any amber trichs yet, only all fully cloudy. I will wait another few days to see if they amber, but this will be the last week for sure. For looks, smell and appeal this is a great strain. I think the late season grow has brought out the best colours for sure. GW should be proud of their work with this one. This week I got a new phone and have enjoyed toying around with filters, to bring out the best colour. I got some great snaps of the buds, I just need to work out how to produce the best images, as some pictures come out tall and thin when uploaded, especially screenshots. See you again next week for the final update before harvest 🍻
Week 12 Sour Dragons.
The dragons are finally finished! The discovery of some mould developing behind the surface sealed the deal.
It wasn’t really visible, except for a leaf that was a bit dead and twisted. Once I pulled the bud back a bit I could see the white colour inside.
It definitely pays to run a keen eye over your plants in the last weeks.
I only lost a very small bit in the end.
So they have been pulled out and hung today, with details in next weeks harvest report.
I will really miss these guys, they smell so nice, and have been great to grow 🍻
It is definitely quality over quantity with the dragons. They were nice size, and my best yet, but I still have a way to go to get the best out of autos outdoor. The biggest thanks of course to GW genetics for giving me a chance to test this for them. It has been a great learning experience. I’m am really happy with the result too. I haven’t tried a diesel strain before, but I will make sure to keep exploring these into the future now. The taste and aroma are so unique and I really like the almost liquorice aftertaste. Thanks to all who followed and gave me help and ideas along the way, I really appreciate all the tips and support. From the dragons, it’s not goodbye, but “see you next year!” 🍻
