Harvesting tops?

Unrelated to this grow but a question none the less. Is it a thing to harvest individual branches of a plant? i.e. Can you harvest the tops and let the lower buds mature more? Namaste

Absolutely yes, a lot of people will harvest their tops and give the rest a chance to grow. The lower buds may not always benefit from this. Each plants is different, so keep you eye on the hairs and tricombs of the lower buds.

Yes you can, although I wouldn't do it unless there's clear differences in maturity - if one part is perfect now and the rest a week later, rather meet somewhere in the middle than stress and potentially slow down the rest even more just because of few days.

Yes you can, because the tops of the plants will usually mature a little faster when the plant is left in its natural shape. That being said, if you are growing inside, you should be flattening out your canopy to maximize your light so then everything should mature at the same time.

Yes you can! I have been growing outdoors this year and been battling cooler temperatures (Northern MI). The cooler temperatures mixed with humidity caused bud rot in some of my plants so I chose to do this. I harvested the top 1/3 of my plants a week and a half before the bottoms. It seems to induce stress in a way that everything tries to finish faster. I did notice some plants beginning to herm out as I was harvesting the bottoms. The lower branches matured very well, I noticed the difference almost daily as I gave ph’d tap water.

Absolutely! That's what I did here. growdiaries.com/diaries/144893-grow-journal-by-chow-13 I harvested the top cobs and then trimmed the upper fan leaves to get more light to the lower canopy. Harvested the lower canopy 8 days later.

Yes! You can do that! I’ve had to do that before because of the risk of bud rot in the fall! You can harvest tops and finish it later—- all good

sure, and depending on timing it may have a similar effect to topping in vege but with buds. "Backbuilding" i think is the colloquial term. if the top is finishing faster, you can harveset the ripe parts. It can't pop pollen sacs and nanners overnight. That stuff takes time to build/grow, but the later you do it the less likely it spurs on any extra flower growth on lower nodes.
