why do plants in the earthboxes grow poorly? Am I not be watering enough? I stick my finger in the soil an inch or more down it feels perfectly moist and the eco Whitts have been dropping to 32% before I’ve been watering and settle at 35 after. Haven’t filled the reservoir yet.

Biggest burning from excess of N and shows magnesium issue too. Others had bad start too. Too hot soil for sure. 35% in veg is stupidly low, till second week of flower never drop below 70% rh. Generally looks ok, not a racers, but all goes well. I see no watering issues from plant look.

It also stops your soil from drying quicker. Plus it blocks oxygen from getting into the soil as it dries IMO.

You would be best off to put the white side up, then there would be much less heat transfer.

The black plastic over the soil will heat your roots. Put your hand inside after the lights been on a couple of hours and feel the heat in there. Roots don't like a lot of heat. If it feels warm under that plastic, remove it. Could be creating hot spots in your soil.
