Should you top an autoflower? If so, when?

No point imo. Have done both. You can get the exact same results by just bending the main stem down and using LST . They're veg window is small so less stress the better during Veg. Let them roots grow as much as possible without stunting them. Topping just slows it all down. I only use topping on fem plants .

you can redistribute how the growth is allocated but you can never make "more" relative to the light it absorbs and co2 in the air - these are the strongest correlating factors to yield and the other stuff barely pushes the dial as long as you don't do somethig catastrophic. You can do things that will cause a lower proportion of larf, but any removing of growth will only hurt yield in the context of an autoflower -- i mean this in a very technical sense. It may be so small that the benefit of less larf far outweighs a few grams lost, for example, but removing growth from a plant on a biological timer can only cause a reduction to yield. you have a limited amount of vege growth. Any reduction to it will hurt yield in some way, even if insignificant. The total amount of light it absorbs dictates yield, not our ministrations. Our ministrations can often have an unintended negative effect. ------- I'd stick to LST and if you do top, try to do it at a point that doesn't cut off numerous growth nodes. Some contexts may merit a topping, but try to avoid it.

The answer is yes when: 1. Plants are not to small 2. Plants are healthy and 3. They don’t show signs of flower yet. But… 4. Why should you not grow photoperiod plants, so you have everything under control…

I don't top them unless I've grown that strain before and know what it can do. Autos in general are more sensitive to stressors so if there are other factors bogging it down this would not be wise. ....[][][].... Good Luck!

All depends on genetics. If you have trash genetics no. High end genetics you can top no problem.

Some say, yes. Some say, hell no. I say, it is possible in the third or fourth week, when you are precise and soft. This is not for the beginner.

Hey brother, if you ask 10 growers this question you will get 10 different answers. This is a very debatable question, of which I only recommend experimenting and trying for yourself. Personally, I have already done so and found that certain autoflower strains definitely benefit from topping. Some strains that are low and compact to begin with I wouldn't top, however strains that stretch and get tall like wedding cake, girl scout cookies, purple juice, ect, then I would most definetly not only top, but do some LST as well.
