First Grow, UK. 2 weeks in looking healthy. Using Plant Magic Soil with Terra Aquatic Nutes. Seen a few negative reviews on this medium I am considering buying different soil for when I transplant into their final pots. Should I change soil brand or stay with Plant Magic?

Also not a fan of "growth stimulants" as a descriptor. If the company is not form coming on WTF that is, its sketchy. Send them a email them and ask for a comprehensive description/breakdown of said "stimulants", If they won't tell you, don't buy it again and move onto a better brand.

THe internet says the composition of this medium is... black peat, white peat, rich compost and growth stimulants + fytocell fytocell seems to be a synthetic perlite of sorts that is biodegradable. Other then that this medium is a soilless with some compost mixed into it. Its not a true soil but its has some aspects like it. You can give this mix a good rince before adding it into the new pots and it will act like soilless, the ammount of compost in it won't hard things to much keep up with your feeding Terra Aquatic Nutes and it should all go just fine. Next run I would suggest trying CANNA brand Coir mixed with perlite or just peat moss and perlite if you want to stick to soilless. Or get a better bag of SOIL that is soil. With soilless I find liquid nutrients work best and with soil dry amendments work best. different feeding styles but nothing you can't learn. Good Luck!

i meant that as a suggestion for the next grow.. i wouldn't switch from soil to soilless midstream... trying a different soil shouldn't be too big of a deal, though.

one soil or another is always a balancing act with plenty of unkowns. If you want more certainty, go with a soilless substrate and you provide all the nutrients necessary in a known ratio each time you irrigate. If it works, that's all that matters for the most part. What your preferences are matter, and you may not have figured any out, yet, if new.

I'm not a fan of fortified soils personally. I like to add nutrients myself during the grow as the plant needs them and without knowing what the companies have added or how it breaks down that can be tricky sometimes. That brand's "organic growth stimulant" makes me nervous lol. When I grow in soil I usually just get it from the local nursery vs ordering specialty soils. I'll mix a bag of topsoil with something that's a little higher quality, just as long as it's just dirt- no nutrient additives, and work in a healthy amount of perlite. If the consistency is still a little chunky I'll add a little sand and if it seems a bit muddy add something like peat or coco to help draw up the moisture a little.
