So I'm new to this whole diary journal forum for my plants. I enjoy, should I start counting the age of my plant? I see someone here that say 4 weeks and they look like there 1 week. And then I see two weeks that look like there are six weeks I know it seems to be a dumb a** ques

Most important time to start counting is when you change your lights to 12/12 with photoperiod plants. Autos I'd start at first day above ground

I view germination week as anytime the seed is underground and not breached the surface, once they all breach the surface I wait an week and call that week 1. Then I update the diary 1 week increments. But it does not matter for your own record. Contests want weekly updates and brands like it because it better to see the plant growing.

Im at my first diary... the way i did it was... germination was in a seperate week. week 1 started when the plant sproutet, and so forth. you should do what you like. the diary is visible for all of us so try to keep it informative so others can gain knowledge from your grow. 😉 Good luck with your diary 👽

Do whatever you feel is right and do not worry about what other people are doing. Generally though, week one is when the plant has sprouted from the soil and opened its first true leaves.

Personal preference really. I class germination as from time I start until it breaks ground and after that I go into week 1 for the 1st 7 days its above ground.

don't worry about what the insecure people do.. or maybe it's an odd context like using clones -- hard to "age" them relative to a seed's timeline. if you use this to help track your old grows, do it in the way you perceive it. As long as it is consistent, it'll be effective. I don't count a day until it is completed. I don't count a week until it is completed. Some people post at start of week. . doesn't matter as long as you are consistent about it.. and if you never intend to reference your own diaries, doesn't matter whatsoever, lol.. it's your diary.. don't worry. i differentiate time it takes to sprout vs vege time.. helps me track how consistent my germination and time to sprout is. Without this baseline i woudln't have noticed a distinct increase in speed and consistency across 15-16 seeds at at ime by using a heat mat. YMMV.. i grow in a cold climate, so my substrate can be fairly cold without it.. less helpful in a warmer context and possibly useless waste of money. Life is rarely binary.. it's a spectrum of possibilities... context matters.

There is no rules how to count, you can count as you want. Some people do germination weeks, some prople do clones, many variations. People count first day when seed breaks soil, other count first when transplanted into final pots. I personally count days since seed touched soil. Main thing - have fun growing !
