I'm currently using the Gardena vacation watering system, and it's working pretty well. (+Blumat moisture meter, but that's not necessary) You can also easily build one yourself with these DIY parts from Amazon and a water pump (+water reservoir, etc.), it comes out the same. If you don't want to give up manual watering for control, get yourself a Gloria 5L; the extended watering arm helps a lot.

Hi I had the same problem and just attached a 50cm long hose as an extended pipe, and it works perfectly and doesn't cost much. You can get any diameter at the hardware store. Cheers!
