If you are growing in (pure) coco coir, you will need to start feeding basically as soon as the plant starts growing.
Coco coir has zero nutrients.
No need to wait until the coco dries out, in fact it should be constantly moist.
It should be impossible to over water in coco.
Coco is basically hydro in a potter and has very little in common with soil growing.
