More likely genetic than any outside causes. Sometimes plants grow out of it, others won't. I have one from my Swiss Cheese grow that's looked like that for like 7 weeks but is still growing like a champ.

Could be from a few things, Bad seed or to much water, is the medium its grown in quite wet? looks like a root issue to me if its not a weird diease.
