Royal Queen Seeds F1 herming in vegetative

SouthWestHeshstarted grow question 2 months ago
Possible male pre flowers showing; definitely female pre flowers. Why are they showing so early, and why both sets? I thought RQS F1's were touted as being more resilient, but this one seems to be herming while it still be in the vegetative state. What happened?

All a F1 hybrid really means is it's the first generation of a cross of two different strains. This means they'll display "hybrid vigor" that can potentially make the cross better than either parent but it also means it hasn't been stabilized yet, which generally requires either backcrossing with one of the parents or crossing with itself. Unstabilized genetics can be very unpredictable and hold a lot of variance. F1s are good for pheno hunting but you gotta be ready for results like this too.

Temperatures are very high (35°C) and humidity very low (30%). Thats a terrible VPD, most charts dont even cover such values. Also I'd check the EC with all those fertilizers... I think your plant is in a lot of stress and thats the reason of herming.

100% hermie. To be honest I think you’re going to be battling a very very bard fight if you try to flower these out completely. It’s more than likely going to produce tons of nanners throughout flower and the odds of you getting every single one before they burst is unlikely. I would reach out to RQS and see what they can do about this because no serious seed company wants their plants to be herm machines. I hope this helps.

The only hermies i got was from RQS seeds, James didnt care, now i always state that fact if i can. I will never grow any from them, despite seeing great results with some strains or F1 series ... So early ... if one spot, take them out if alot - chuck plant, its faster to grow

Hermi, pluck em and hope they don't regrow but they likely will. Might be easier to start over if you don't want to be checking all the time. as one missed sacked = pollinated tent. Likely outside of your control and predetermined from the get go with the seeds. Some PGR's will cause this. Some companies like to hide PGR's in their products, but that might not be the case still. I've yet to experience this, but buddies who have say end of flower sacks can sometimes be normal on some strains and plucking them off is fine, but a plant making sacks beginning of flower will not stop and it will be a wasted effort. Good Luck!

Definitely herming/male flowers. More resilient does not mean bullet proof. All seeds are individual organic beings with unique genetics, nothing is guaranteed 100%. Showing pre-flowers in week 3 is nothing unusual for auto flowers. Feeding every product in the grow shop is not a great idea.
