Holes in my plant over night - what insect?

Over the night some tiny bastard ate holes in my plant… does anyone have an idea what kind of animal this could be and what to do?

Looks like slugs to me, I had that problem especially if it's at night take a little dish outside put beer in the bottom of it see if you catch any!
