I had to leave the town for a two week and left my plants at my friend and this is in what condition they had returned. I'm trying to identify what is the issue. Is this a mold, overwatering, nutrient issue? They were left on the balcony and had not the best weather.

Looks like u have thrips on your plant. You can spot them on the leaves. Only way to get rid of them is to remove the affected parts of the plant and treat with neem oil until you cant find them anymore... And yes, all that damage is caused by the thrips. Its clear as day on your week 5 veg pictures that you have a severe problem with thrips, feels bad, they really gonna damage those autos and their growth.

In my personal experience . If been in a lot rain it probably over watered.Without knowing feed ratios and soil make up and ph levels .I wud give natural neutral water less often and I wud keep the leaves on until you see damages stop then trim off the damage as it looks mainly like just nursery leaves which wud die off anyway.
