I’m using the Buildasoil cover crop blend and was curious what to do. What is chop n drop? I’m assuming I chop this, but do I bury it in the soil or just lay it on the topsoil? When do I chop?

I usually don't start cover crop in a seedling pot. I usually use it in pots larger than 15 gallons! But there's lots of ways to use it. I personally don't do no till yet! So I usually chop it back pretty good about 2 weeks before I harvest then. When I remove my used soil and put it it in a tote for storage I assume the cover crop will break down and decompose and bring some life back to the soil. Id watch a couple videos BAS does on it and decide how to incorporate it to achieve what you want to gain from using it

I would not use any cover crop when growing in pots, only outdoors and only if growing directly in the ground in well prepared and nutient rich soil. In pots, cover crops tend to compete for root space with the cannabis plant and will strip nutrients from the soil that should be going to the cannabis plant. The tiny bit of nitrogen they "fix" into the soil is far less than what they rob from the soil. I would suggest cutting them down and removing them, any "mulch" left lying on the soil surface in indoor cultivation is a potential breeding habitat for molds, fungi and insect pests as well. Outdoors chopped alfalfa makes a fantastic mulch, but I would not plant any cover crops in any container grown plants. While it may seem like a great idea and very natural and holistic, in reality, indoors it is more likely to cause issues rather than provide any real benefits to your cannabis plants. If you are super keen on continuing with the cover crop, wait until it is 4-5 inches tall, cut them off at ground level then cut it into small pieces and then lay the pieces directly on the soil surface. There is no need to dig them in.

Hey mate, in practice i just use the stems i defoliate or prune early. Leaves get superwet and can mold very easy, so i cut them off. The sidegrow in your pot you can just take out and throw it away. When you chop your cannabisplant i usually throw that stems just in my bubblehash mixer, hoping for a bit more extract. I never find use in a topdressing. The soil has enough root itself from the plant. No need to add extras to the soil itself. Hope that helps you a bit. Happy Growing!
