Should the pistils be doing this?

Your plant is in early flower and usually the pistils at this stage are all white and alive. When they are pollinated, they die and turn brown, but I don't think that is the cause here. Sometimes the preflowers come very early and just die before the plant really gets going, or sometimes a spray can be fine on the leaves, but too strong for the pistils and burn them.

Yes, the pistils in the pre flowers turning brown while the actual flowers have brand new and fresh white pistils is completely normal and not an issue to be worried about.

They look like the very early stages of flower and look perfectly normal to me. Did you mean to flip to 12/12?
