18/6 or whatever hits your DLI of around 40. For me that is a 16/8 schedule but my lights are a bit to strong for my tent size. If you are not using overpowered lights 18/6 should be fine. and to make it bloom go down to 12/12. typically it is dimmed at 18/6 then back to 100% at 12/12 to make up the difference in hours for light intensity. www.youtube.com/watch Good link. 40 min long but covers a lot of useful info on lighting. You can also google abut DLI and learn what it means, but it is the single most important factor in figuring out how much light is right. and Its easier to calculate if you have a PFFD map of your light. Most manufactures provide these. as a very crude example: where water is light and taps are the lights. Think of it like a tap, that is always on. always on is bad but for simplicity it makes it easier to visualize. So lets say your tap can do max 100L of water a day at 100%. and you need 50L/day as your ideal. Less water under 50 works but they just won't grow as much. if its at 50% dim and it can do 100L/day, the tap is now doing 50L/day at 24/0 with 50%dim . its good, you hit 50L/Day. Now if you go down to 12/12 to make it flower. at 50% dim on 12/12 you would only be giving them 25L/day. so you will need to increase its intensity to 100%. At 100% this means it is doing 100L/Day, but your only using the lights 12/12 or half the day so its divided by 2. thus 12/12 at 100% = 50L/Day, same ratio as before in veg. This is how lights work but in a bit more convoluted way. The closer they are the stronger they get "inverse square law", but as long as hang height remains about the same from the canopy it should be fine, their are a bunch of other side things about didoes they use and drivers and how much power they push through them, but as a basic intro that example works fine. even older or lower bin didoes vs new ones they are all around the same. its not a massive difference so its just for the ones who like to nitpick and get real geeked out about it. Good Luck!

I agree, I would go with a 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flowering. This is pretty standard. Anything over 18 hours is pretty much a waste of electricity which does add up growing. You want to save as much money as possible. Good luck!

18 on and 6 off during every 24 hour period for the vegetive growth cycle, then 12 on and 12 off for the flowering cycle. NEVER, EVER grow at 24/0.........all cannabis plants NEED "sleep" to finish their daily photosynthesis cycle and to have a correctly functioning metabolism. A plant with an incorrectly fuctioning metabolism will never grow to its fullest potential.
