I'd buy based on sturdiness of poles used. Compare their weight allowances. Unfortunately for me, the only brand i know with thicker tent poles is ac infinity (threw up in my mouth a bit). But, if you can find comparable for cheaper, go for it. I wouldn't worry too much about canvas thickness as long as its 600d or better. If you plant to put it up and take it down repeatedly, then you might want to value canvas density more. They almost all come with 'some' pinhole leaks along seams or a zipper flap that's got a bad fold in it etc. The weight capacity is still the most important aspect. Check out weight of your expected equipment.. 50% of max or less is a good idea.
Still a good idea to 'mostly' light-proof your attic. Run lights at night often saves kw-h costs and easier to dissipate heat. Some sort of exhaust from the area would still be good whether outside or not. Also, don't have to worry as much about light polluting tent through mesh intake ports or ducts.
If your attic is already light-proofed, you can also consider the DIY route. If i could dedicate a room year round, I wouldn't have a tent. Polyfilm, something to hand it, a way to mount lights/equipment.. easy enough to do. Even good white paint is just as good as a mylar tent as far as refelctivity and any noticeable difference in results.
