Germination Issues. Should I dig these up? Or wait?

Have a I ruined/overwatered my seeds? I soaked my seeds in water for about 24 hours and then placed them directly in moist substrate 5 days ago. I had them in a seedling tray with the lid on at first and have watered them once. The lid has been off for the past 2 days.

I would wait a few more days. If they are dead, digging them up wont help and if not, you risk damaging them. On average for me it takes around a week or so for a seed to pop and come up if I plant directly in the medium, so if you don't see anything by day 10, have a look. I now rather germinate in paper towel and wait for the shell to come off so you can plant them flush with the surface of the soil and they stand up within a few hours. Saves the waiting and guessing.

Don't go digging around in there. You shouldn't be watering anything prior to germination unless you're having major evaporation issues or didn't water in the substrate properly when planting, you might have drowned them out. Also as Mouse said, cool temps can slow germination.

try carefully removing soil above the places you planted them with a toothpick and see if they germinated

Hello- I've had some seedlings germinate and then 'hide' under large pieces of the soil. Make sure you didn't directly cover a seed with a chunk of something. The other thing in the future I would suggest trying is very gently covering the seed with loose soil when first transferred to the substrate. It just needs to be dark...don't want it packed in there.

If you temps are cooler they will take longer to pop. If your temps are to warm they can cook. Seedling heat mat kinda thing. Its why I don't use them anymore. to dam hot. It looks like your meter is saying 25.8 and that's nice. anything in 22-28c range is good. anything over 30C is not great and anything below 10c. I would give them a few more days. when I grow I expect them to pop in first 7 days if not, i assume dead and soak some more. I have has one batch of seeds die on me any time they soaked they just turned mushy. Only every seen this one time. maybe they froze before getting to me.

Buried them too deep maybe? I found that you dont need to bury seeds that deeply, maybe around 5mm of soil on top is enough when keeping it moist. You could try to really carefully dig them up just to see if they have sprouted yet or not.
