Hi all I would like to try blumat system. I have everything ready to install. Do you have any good tips, or what should definitely be considered? How does the Blumat system interact with soil that contains perlite? How about using fertilizer and are 2 small ones enough für 25l?

Installation Tips: Prevent Algae Growth: Use an opaque reservoir with a lid to minimize light exposure, reducing algae development. Adding a diluted, bio-safe hydrogen peroxide solution can further deter algae. Avoid Air Bubbles: Before installation, soak the ceramic sensors ("carrots") overnight to eliminate air bubbles. After soaking, use a small pipette to remove any remaining air pockets through the holes in the cap. Soil Preparation: If your soil contains perlite or other coarse materials, they can cause false moisture readings. Create a hole for the sensor and fill it with well-watered, perlite-free potting soil before inserting the sensor. Interaction with Perlite-Containing Soil: Perlite improves soil aeration and drainage but can affect the Blumat sensor's accuracy. To mitigate this, ensure the sensor is surrounded by fine, perlite-free soil to maintain proper moisture detection. Using Fertilizers: Blumat systems can deliver liquid fertilizers, but it's crucial to: Dilute Fertilizers Appropriately: Use a more diluted solution than usual to prevent clogging and ensure even nutrient distribution. Prevent Clogging: Regularly check and clean the system to avoid blockages, especially when using organic fertilizers. Incorporate filters and consider using nutrient-solubilizing products to maintain flow. Number of Sensors for a 25L Pot: For a 25-liter (approximately 6.6 gallons) pot, using two Blumat sensors is appropriate. Each sensor can effectively manage moisture in pots ranging from 1 to 5 gallons. Adding distribution drippers can enhance water coverage, ensuring even moisture throughout the pot.

Hi bro, General Tips: Thorough Soil Moisture: Before installation, water the soil thoroughly several times to ensure even moisture distribution.   Blumat Placement: Insert Blumats 10-15 cm away from the plant and 10-15 cm deep into the soil.   Initial Setting: Set the Blumats to a low initial setting (e.g., 1/2 arrow) and gradually increase as needed.   Regular Monitoring: Monitor the system regularly, especially in the initial stages, to adjust settings and ensure proper watering.   Water Quality: Use clean water and consider adding a water conditioner to prevent mineral buildup. Cleaning: Clean the Blumats and tubing periodically to prevent clogs. Perlite and Blumat: Perlite can be used with the Blumat system, but it may affect the watering frequency. Perlite is very absorbent and can hold onto water, potentially leading to overwatering.   Monitor the system closely and adjust settings accordingly. Fertilizer and Blumat: You can use fertilizer with the Blumat system, but it's best to dilute it and apply it separately from the watering schedule. Avoid applying fertilizer directly to the Blumats, as it can clog them. Consider using a fertilizer injector to automate the process. 2 Small Blumats for 25L: Two small Blumats may be sufficient for a 25L pot, but it depends on factors like plant type, pot material, and environmental conditions. If you're unsure, start with two and add more if needed. Consider using larger Blumats for larger pots or plants with higher water demands. Additional Considerations: Water Source: Ensure a reliable water source with consistent pressure. Water Pressure: Adjust the water pressure if necessary to prevent overwatering. Plant Type: Different plants have different water requirements, so adjust the system accordingly.   Environmental Factors: Consider factors like temperature, humidity, and sunlight, which can affect water needs. By following these tips and considerations, you can successfully use the Blumat system to automate your watering and ensure healthy plant growth. Best of luck buddy.

I would try to get 3 for one pot just to be sure Ferts I would do manual not through the Blumat it might just clog out bcs of that. Dont worry about the Perlite.
