What do you think is the optimal EC value of the water during the different growing phases when growing organically? Scenario: Only water is used for watering, and nutrients were mixed with the soil at the beginning. No additional nutrient solution should be added to the watering water.

Hello Buffi, the EC value would be almost 0 with distilled water. If you're growing organically, just use tap water. It has somewhere between 0.2 and 0.4 mS/cm (Ca/Mg/...)

The EC value going in should be 0, water only. If your checking the EC run off, it will differ at various stages and times depending on how long the nutrients have been in the soil. It’s kind of a loaded question. If you want values or numbers at run off, you can get a pretty wide range of answers here. Plus organic nutrients take some time to break down, they are slow release.

Do you mean the run-off or the watering water? Unfortunately, I don't quite understand the question. If you have dry amendments (meaning you've mixed dry fertilizer into the soil), you just need to pay attention to how much you water and that your pH value is "in order." So not 4 and not 9 either. The rest is taken care of by the soil, the microbes in it, and the plant. EC value with organic fertilizer is a whole different story because organic fertilizer only provides "food" for the microbes, and they make it available for the plant. "Additionally, no further nutrient solution should be added to the watering water." How do you plan to adjust the EC value of the water at all? If it's about your general tap water and whether that's okay, then the answer is probably yes. The EC value of my tap water is about 0.48. If yours is "approximately" in that range, then it's fine. If I couldn't answer any of your questions with my numerous answers, please tell me exactly what you want and what you mean; there are no stupid questions here :p

Hi, I think these values are okay without nutrients and starting from tap water. -Germination and seedling phase: 0.2 to 0.4 mS/cm -Vegetative phase: 0.4 to 0.8 mS/cm -Flowering phase: 0.8 to 1.2 mS/cm If you have a too high EC value in your tap water, you can use filters like those from the brand Brita. If you use rainwater, you'll naturally have a very low EC value.
