Can my auto flower plant go through its entire flowering stage under my grow light? …..will the buds still form as normal or do I have to give it some sort darkness

Technically, being an auto it doesn't necessarily need any dark time. But they can only take in so much light per day (that measurement is: DLI or Daily Light Integral), after they take in the max amount of light then it's just driving up your power bill for no reason. The more "intense" the light is, the less lights-ON time it needs. So you could have a lower intensity light but you'd have to run it for longer and vis versa. If your light is dimmable then you can choose whatever you want basically since you can adjust and/or increase the distance between the light and plant. There are phone apps like "Photone" that will read the intensity of your light using your camera, giving you PPFD and DLI measurements and tell you how intense the light should be. Although I'm not quite sure how accurate it is, I've heard it's fairly accurate but it's a phone app and its free so... I ran 20/4 for a while but I'm just doing now 18/6 since I wasn't using my light at 100% on 20/4 anyways. Light plays a pretty big role in bud development. I don't think I've seen a fully matured plant that was underlit so I'm not sure what the noticeable differences would be other than I guess small buds. Potency might be affected too. If the light intensity is low than the plant might not move as much water, so don't water too much.

Considering ruderalis plants evolved to grow in the Arctic Circle, everyone's "natural biology" argument for a dark cycle for autos is completely horse shit. These plants are made for 24 hour cycles. That being said, as long as you're providing enough light it doesn't really matter.

Hello! I disagree with some things that has been said. You can without a problem grow a Automatic plant with 24h of light. There is more than enough proof out there, to show it. Would i recommend it? no. For Automatic plants i always go with 20h of light and 4h of darkness. The important thing is to have more light with automatics than you have when using photoperiodic plants. Because automatics don't care and still go into flower with more than 12h of light they can develop quicker as photoperiodics which is why some strains only need 9 weeks from seed to harvest (did them myself) what would be unimaginable for photoperiodics because tey simply can't get more than 12h of light per day. More light = more photosynthesis Why not 24h? Because most of us are far away from being the perfect grower and light out means recovery and repairing. without that you can't afford to have any issues at all. Thats why i go for 20h light 4h darkness from seed to harvest in Automatics 16h light 8h darkness for Photoperiodics in veg and 12/12 for photoperiodic plants in Flower ( thats just my opinion(: )

You can run auto for 24/0, but I would suggest 18/6 or 16/8 for stress release. In general, the plant needs more red shifted light (autumn light) for potent buds.

NEVER grow at 24/0..............18/6 is optimal. ALL cannabis plants NEED "sleep" for a correctly functioning metabolism. A plant with an incorrectly functioning metabolism will never produce best quality/results. The fact some people say it is ok to grow at 24/0 is a biological error.
