Germination Sequence!

I soak, paper towel, starting pellets till nice roots then final container. Want to skip paper towel and go to pellets. Worried about germination rate? Next grow 100% sativa hybrid. Use a succession of smaller pots before final or just transplant to final? Opinions Please!

I always go from soak to pellet/puck. I don't wanna screw around with an exposed taproot and risk breaking it. It doesn't affect my germination rates any, my beans almost always pop 100%. On transitioning pots, to me it depends on what you want for a finished pot size. If it's 5gal or less I wouldn't bother.

Straight into pellets is better than multiple transfers from water to paper towel then pellets. Germination rates is more about seeds being fresh rather than the actual method........just never let them dry out. I start in smaller pots (not too small though!) for 3 weeks or so, then into final pot.........have done so for 40 years and it works well for me.

There's more than one answer. Usually that's the case with most cannabis questions. I recommend using pellets. I have 100% success rate with this method. It also depends if you're growing autos or photos. If you're growing autos I would sow your seed directly into your final pot(no peat pellet necessary). Just don't drench your grow medium. If you're growing photos, there's a little more forgiveness, they don't get stunted as easily as autos. So you can transplant a little more freely. Some people like to transplant a couple times, it allows you to sprinkle mycorrhizae directly on the roots. The less experience you have, the less I would mess around with transplanting. Make sure you dial back your nutrients by atleast half if not more than the amount the bottle suggests. Even though the plants can take it, the plant doesn't need as much as they tell you. They just want you to keep buying more nutrients and spending your money. Good luck!

should be fine to skip paper towel. just keep the stuff warm thought it all and it will be good. I like soaking the seeds for 12hrs max but direct into the medium is also fine. follows the guise of KISS Keep It Stupid Simple. The more steps the more chance of errors and your/me/us are likely to be the thing that fucks it up not the seed. Jusr stuff we don't think of. clean hands and glasses, papertowels brands and PH or mold spores in the environment. Use a transplant method, this will allow the roots to fully colonize or establish the one pot before moving up. Then when you feed them they have a rootball within a rootball within a rootball and lots of surface area to soak it all up.

Directly into the medium, unless you germinate many and pick the best, then keep the transplants as low as possible. Don't like the towel method since it can break the roots easily.
