How do I optimize root space ? I have a custom hydroponic tower system It works by dripping/spraying water directly on top of wool cubes It s my second grow and i notice that once the roots reach the bottom they will spread outwards then stop growing because of the lack of room

A general rule of thumb in botany (which gets complicated somewhat outside of soil) is that the plant's mass above the ground is proportional to the mass below the ground. Pots/buckets have finite space. You can only keep the solution clean and have nutrients/oxygen available to the roots. At some point there will be no more room to grow without choking out other roots. Optimizing root space? Good luck. The plants will find a way to get to where they want to be, sometimes to your detriment.

These tower planters are better suited for shallow rooting plants like strawberries or lettuce. You'll have a better experience with cannabis either using a multi bucket setup or one large sterilite tote.

bigger res = more root space Can't do much of anything, your bound by the limitations of the tower. Can also use less plants in the tower for more roots or switch some something like a RDWC setup that has more space and uses basic storage bins from homedepo and alike.

Hi bud. I'm no Einstein when it comes to hydroponic systems, but aren't the roots supposed to grow through the holes? Either they do it by nature or by you helping them a little. They then grow down into the basin. Correct? Or is this system that dull that they only allow 2cm for root growth? If so, you are growing the wrong plant. Try clover. Hope this helps, even a little.
