You’re right—normally it doesn’t take that long. There could be several factors at play here. The question is: were the seeds simply placed on a paper towel, or was the paper towel placed inside a sealed container like a Tupperware box? How warm is the environment where the seeds are kept? Poor seed quality could also be a reason. But generally speaking, it’s unusual for all four seeds to show no signs of germination after four days. Personally, I usually achieve a germination rate of 80 to 100 percent when using the paper towel method. I maintain a consistent temperature of around 24°C and place the moist paper towel inside a Tupperware container. In most cases, the seeds either germinate within two to three days—or they don’t at all.
