500 ppm for vegatative period ?

hello all , so for hydrophonics the recommended for seedling vegetation is 500 ppm , yes ? got more failure today, thought was the grow lamp not close enough, so i lower it till it is 3 feet above the plants,but this morning found that some got burnt, not sure why

Seedlings don't need nutrients, they store energy in their cotyledons for growth from sprout until the first fan leaf. What is your pH? How wet is substrate? What wattage lights are you running?
